Ignore the Fools

There is a new nurse working for the Home Health Care service that sends nurses to my home to treat my legs. In addition to doing her job well, she is a pleasant person to be around and has a delicious sense of humor.

Because she lives in the next suburb east of me, the schedule usually makes me the last client she sees on any given day. A ten minute drive and she is home.

Because she has nobody else to see after me, she often sits and chats for a time We talk of many things, but one day last week we were talking about genealogy, as it is of interest to both of us.

She asked where I found the records for my ancestors and I told her about courthouse records and church records, much of which is now online.

She said that because the area in Africa where her parents were born had seen so much war and strife, many of the records had been destroyed by the burning of buildings. And because of the unrest her parents had made the choice to come to America and become citizens.

After a bit she began to chuckle. I asked what was so funny. She said, “Here we sit. Having a nice conversation. My skin couldn't get much more black and your skin couldn't get much more white. According to many of the government types and the 'woke' crowd, we are supposed to hate each other.”

I said I was sorry, but I just couldn't work up any hatred. She said she couldn't either.

Then she said with a grin, “Maybe we should just ignore the fools.”

Best advice ever!

  1. I have worked with people from Asia, Mexico and those whose culture may have originated in Africa and have had no problem with getting along with any of them. In one instance I had a male who was frustrated with me and felt mistreated somehow. We had a good long talk and he wasn't upset because he thought I was racist in some way, he was upset because I was a female supervisor and he didn't like taking instructions from a female. Didn't have anything to do with me being white and we ended up having a very nice working relationship and was told he missed me when I moved on. Also had the similar situation with a couple of males that were Asian and once I proved one on one that not only did I know how to do the work, I was as good as, if not better than they were, doing it, all was well with the world. Left that job and ended up returning a few years later and when one of the guys saw me, he wanted to know if I was going to be supervising again. He was disappointed that I wasn't and told his current supervisor that I was the best boss he had ever had. LOL I miss working with all of these people and their background and their culture and, God forbid, their color had nothing to do with it. I love this nurse that you have and I love the relationship you have with each other. I'm sure there are more people that feel the same way, but their voices, unfortunately, are not the ones being heard. Ranee (MN)

    1. I enjoyed your story, Rae...Thank you. I understand that those in power now are doing their level best to keep us divided. Create a problem and then take credit for fixing the problem they created. Thing is, left to our own resources and common sense, we can manage relationships with others just fine. MLK said it best when he talked about not judging by the color of skin but by the content of character. Seems to me those who are trying to gin up hate and discontent are the ones who need some serious adjustments in their character.

  2. I've known this to be true for years, Vicki. Unfortunately, in the workplace people are being forced to "take a side." Literally, that means "Take the company's "woke" side, or else." This is going to go south down the line. Being forced to "like" someone because of skin color and not character is certain to breed hatred. When push comes to shove, the "forced" person will go off on the "liked" person, who will say "I thought you liked me!" To which the "forced" person will say "I never liked you. I thought you were a jerk. I was FORCED to MAKE BELIEVE I liked you to keep my job!" Of course, the "forced" person will immediately be called a racist. It'll go downhill real fast from there...

...It'll be up to us oldsters to tell people that there was a time when most Americans were getting along pretty well, regardless of color. That was the case until a certain president "took a side" with the thugs. Reversing what he did is going to be like getting the smoke back into a cigarette...

    1. You are spot on, Pete...A good person is a good person and a jerk is a jerk. Skin tone has not one single, solitary thing to do with either.

We seem to have slid down this slippery slope awfully fast. Not that long ago, people were just people. You might have run across a stray lunatic here and there, but for the most part we got along with neighbors and co-workers regardless of skin color. But now, according to the woke culture, everybody is a racist.

I didn't realize what kind of trouble we were really in until someone decided that Dr. Seuss had racist tendencies in writing his books for children. This genie needs to be stuffed back in the bottle and buried - deep!

    1. LindaG...I think there are many who feel this way, but few dare say so. To speak the truth these days can cost a person their job or worse. Seem to me it is the cancel culture that needs to be cancelled.

  4. I'd be happy to ignore them, but they don't seem to want to ignore me! I'm glad you and your nurse are able to get past all that silliness!

    1. sbrgirl...It appears that the agenda of the left dividing the country isn't going to go away any time soon. All the silliness would go away if folks remembered "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you."

  5. Smart people see through all of the foolishness. You and your nurse are both smart and able to see the fools for what they are. She is right...ignore the fools! CW

    1. CW...The foolishness needs to stop. People need to stop believing what the government elite and the main stream media tell them. Those people wouldn't know the truth if it bit them in the butt!

  7. I’m with sbrgirl. Leave me alone, act like a decent human and we’ll be fine. As CW said, smart people can see through the crap. I don’t think smart is quite the right word, though. More and more I’m seeing this as a moral problem. And fixing that, as a society, is tough. Pray hard!

  9. You are absolutely right about this being a moral problem. Things we know to be wrong and what the Bible tells us is wrong are now perfectly fine for many. One of the biggest mistakes was taking God out of schools, government buildings, etc. This is what a Godless country looks like. Yes. Pray.
