Mine was Barney the Cocker Spaniel. Found as an ill-kept one year old stray, he had character. He would run off, going only a couple of doors down, and then sit and wait for someone to come get him. He would turn his back to me and grumble when I wouldn't share my supper with him. I don't know how he did it, but he worked out a deal with the cat. If there was something on a table or counter that he wanted, the cat would knock it to the floor for him. He lived to be 16 years old and I miss him. He made me laugh daily.

Your fresh veggies sound SO GOOD! I'm glad to hear your hard work is paying off.

Dvd's and a mystery sounds like a good way to pass the day. Me...I stumbled across the mother lode of information on some of my ancestors, so it is a day at the computer, gathering all the data to add to my family tree. It is amazing what a person can find online these days. Take care and enjoy your quiet day.Vickihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09409645438732452330noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6292915201767940326.post-22645931529987933602018-09-02T13:09:09.064-05:002018-09-02T13:09:09.064-05:00I love my golden boy but that golden-girl was a on...I love my golden boy but that golden-girl was a once in a lifetime dog. She was so wilful. Training her was an exercise in my patience just because of her character. She'd refuse and refuse and then give a big old sigh and comply. She was so smart.

Made it to the most 'needy' garden this morning. All told I was out of the apartment one hour. Picked cucumber, tomatoes, green chiles and yellow squash. And the first of many pickings of tomatillos. Right now it's all sitting in bags in my sink. I'll wash all of it and then shred almost all of it for the freezers.
In for the rest of the day to watch dvds and start a Louise Penny mystery.
Cheers, SJAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6292915201767940326.post-76476655974525858222018-09-01T11:38:24.134-05:002018-09-01T11:38:24.134-05:00SJ...It is incredibly frustrating sometimes, isn&#...SJ...It is incredibly frustrating sometimes, isn't it. But then I have to think about all the things I can still do. Just takes longer.

I think God gave Goldens a rich sense of humor. The ones I have been around were forever doing things that made me laugh. But your golden-girl doing head plants in the horse poo takes the cake! Funny bone has been righteously tickled. :)

So glad Mr. Dog is doing better. I pray they will find the cause of his distress and be able to fix it. Still praying.Vickihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09409645438732452330noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6292915201767940326.post-38723156873227713532018-09-01T11:29:14.545-05:002018-09-01T11:29:14.545-05:00Gorges...Even if I didn't have mobility issues...Gorges...Even if I didn't have mobility issues, I wouldn't want to be anywhere near the crowds at the fair. I am perfectly happy becoming that hermit you talked about in one of your recent posts. :)

My Dad always told me that it didn't matter if your job was digging ditches. Dig the very best ditch you could dig. I have been so lucky to have kind, caring and gentle nurses helping me. And the fact that both have wonderful senses of humor has been a plus. And I hear you about the frustrations when our bodies start to give out.

Your description of Oreo's antics reminded me of my golden-girl. When I picked her up from the kennel one time, she had a grass stain on her forehead. The owner of the kennel was quite apologetic and said the dog kept doing head plants in the horse poop-piles. Hahaha. The dog came home very clean, but stained a green-ish color. Thought that might tickle your funny bone.
MrDog has responded well to this new round of meds. Still waiting to here about the lab results.
Cheers, SJAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6292915201767940326.post-58043276426445059052018-09-01T08:29:26.366-05:002018-09-01T08:29:26.366-05:00The missus and I were talking a few days ago, when...The missus and I were talking a few days ago, when a craft fair was in town and decided that we probably couldn't even handle going to church anymore let alone a fair of any kind.

Pride in a job well done seems to be only for the self-employed anymore, and surprisingly few of them.

What can you say about dogs? I ...Rob...I never have been comfortable in a crowd. I don't mind a when it is family, but huge crowd like the fair - nope. And we are somewhat alike when it comes to change. Didn't bother me much when I was young, but I guess somewhere along the line I got old and set in my ways. Mostly I think my stubborn streak might be at play. I need to work on that. :) Vickihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09409645438732452330noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6292915201767940326.post-24968742710119080222018-09-01T04:26:58.196-05:002018-09-01T04:26:58.196-05:00Some folks have asked us why we don't go to th...Some folks have asked us why we don't go to the fair and other places. My reply was "Disney"...Disney ?? Yes Disney burn out. So many people in one place over 6 years. Yea, I'm done with crowds...I know we are some what alike, I don't like change..be it, a friendship lost, or a TV show cut from the air waves. Family passing on. That's part of the cycle.Robhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16800149852939042454noreply@blogger.com
