Staying home - harvesting green beans - crocheting - teaching your children - all may not be exciting. But there is nothing more important. I firmly believe we need to get back, at least partially, to the non-exciting lives of our grandparents. They knew how to live. I read just the other day an article that said many of today's young don't even know how to sew on a button. They are too busy being Social Justice Warriors to learn how to take care of themselves. They are doomed. We will survive. :)Vickihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09409645438732452330noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6292915201767940326.post-41338855548294734322017-08-15T07:33:56.917-05:002017-08-15T07:33:56.917-05:00Vicki, I agree. I can continue to teach my kids to cook, and hopefully some day they'll get it all. I'm not quite back to cooking and baking, but hopefully very soon.
Pioneer Woman at Hearthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16533698959389851926noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6292915201767940326.post-54161456944467226192017-08-15T07:15:16.148-05:002017-08-15T07:15:16.148-05:00Rob...Years ago when the 169 bypass went in, most ...Rob...Years ago when the 169 bypass went in, most of the heavy traffic used that rather than going through town. Many of the business moved out there as well, leaving mostly the neighborhood bars (they are pretty tame) and just a few stores. Aside from the trains that run past the end of my block, ( only a couple of trains
daily) it stays much more quiet than many city streets would be. I am lucky! It is a lot of work but well worth it.

Reminded me of a time when my family had a very small apple orchard. Mother put me to making pies that were frozen before baking. When she wanted an apple pie, she just took one from the stack in the freezer and baked it. Good memories.Vickihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09409645438732452330noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6292915201767940326.post-18707276774327310482017-08-14T20:52:27.102-05:002017-08-14T20:52:27.102-05:00I spent the weekend canning like crazy! She came through the spaying ordeal with flying colors and has figured out that her pottie is located outside. The kids and their parents adore her. They showed me pictures of her and if her body ever catches up to the length of her legs, she is going to be one big dog!
Good for you on the pickles!! Bread and butters are my favorite. Sometimes it seem like you will never have enough of a harvest to do anything with and then you have more than you know what to do with! Cherry tomatoes are a personal favorite. I eat them like candy. :)
Your one butternut squash still trumps my one string bean. lol
If I had the physical capability, my dear, I would be doing a happy dance right in the middle of the street outside my apartment to celebrate the news of your improving health! Prayers for continuing improvement are being sent heavenward and good thoughts are being sent in your direction. That is just the best possible news.Vickihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09409645438732452330noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6292915201767940326.post-40834237718022389402017-08-14T16:36:18.262-05:002017-08-14T16:36:18.262-05:00Give me contentment any day. My micro-farming produced enough cucumbers to yield 3 pints of bread and butter pickles. I'm just tickled - first that I had enough cucumbers to put up. And, that my health just might be improving. I'm also enjoying cucumbers for lunch and dinners. The cherry tomatoes are coming in as well as a second micro-crop of strawberries. The down side -my big old butternut squash plant has yielded exactly one squash. Oh, well.
Cheers, SJAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6292915201767940326.post-36122556423313809852017-08-14T11:29:50.184-05:002017-08-14T11:29:50.184-05:00Jenn...There used to be much more of my world year...Jenn...There used to be much more of my world years ago. I realize the need to be informed about what is happening in our world, but I don't have to live it - at least not yet. When my brother was here, he remarked that I seemed to be happy.
