I am a h...SJ...That play sounds like so much fun!! I am a huge Agatha Christie fan, even to the Hercule Poirot and Miss Marple TV series. I have watched many of those on YouTube as well as movies based on her books. I checked today and couldn't find a decent "Towards Zero" to watch, but I did find it in audiobook form, so I might listen to that this evening. Sometimes, even when we know we will pay a price, doing something like attending that play is well worth it.

Duane is a godsend to me. He really is so good to help when I need it. Sometimes I fear he gets stuck with more than his fair share because he lives next door and I try not to ask too much of him. Last evening he was feeling some better. The nasty cough was gone but he still wasn't feeling all that great. He likely went to work today anyway. From what I hear, this type of flu is everywhere. I've been lucky to escape it so far.Vickihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09409645438732452330noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6292915201767940326.post-92078531638611787522017-02-10T15:52:39.076-06:002017-02-10T15:52:39.076-06:00Hi again,

So much so that at the end of the play, they forgot to put the house lights on. No one seemed to mind, though. And I love a good mystery. The play was one by Agatha Christie called "Towards Zero'. I loved that I didn't guess the ending. For $12 (up from $10 in years past), it was well worth the money.
I did, however, pay for it in energy expended. The play was Thursday night and I did not do much for the next four days. Worth it but it did cost me.
And, yes, our weather has been crazy here. Worst winter since 1996 according to one newscaster. We're used to the snows falling in the surrounding mountains, not the city.

Sorry to hear that Duane was hit with the flu. Hope he rebounds soon. And kudos to him for looking after you so well.
Cheers, SJAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6292915201767940326.post-19652869479238045802017-02-10T14:01:50.904-06:002017-02-10T14:01:50.904-06:00Hi SJ...I guess I have been busy, so it is nice to...Hi SJ...I guess I have been busy, so it is nice to have a couple of calm, restful days. After working hard most of my life, I sometimes forget that it is OK just kick back and relax now that I am retired. Old habits die hard.
Duane has recovered nicely from the fainting spell only to spend a couple of days down with the flu that is making the rounds here. He was feeling better and I accused him of having his radar set on cookie mode. Truth be known, he either calls or stops over every couple of days to check up on Mom. My legs need to stay wrapped from the knees down in Ace bandages to keep the swelling down and as this is nearly impossible for me to accomplish without help, so he comes over twice a week to do this for me. Being sick, he had missed doing this, so he let me know he would be here after supper to get it done. I sent a big bag of cookies home with him.
You seem to be getting the kind of weather that is normal for us. The snowstorms have been going around us this year and very little snow has fallen here. But it is only February, so we could still get hit, which usually happens sometime in March. I don't know if the state high school basketball tournaments are still held in the Twin Cities in March, but for years the standing joke in Minnesota was that at tournament time a blizzard was about to strike. That's exactly what happened more years than not!
I have been just scanning the headlines to see if some other country has decided to blow us up that day. I am sick to death of the politics and the childish behavior of both political parties. I may pay more attention if they ever decide to act like grownups, but that seems highly doubtful!!
Hope all is well with you in spite of being buried under all of that snow. Was the play you attended as much fun as you thought it would be? Unless I have food to process before it goes bad, I really don't need to do anything unless I want to. :)
I sure won't complain about our winter. It has been pretty easy so far - no major storms or weeks of sub-zero temps. I'll take it any time.Vickihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09409645438732452330noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6292915201767940326.post-20770753142065199642017-02-10T11:19:46.317-06:002017-02-10T11:19:46.317-06:00Good morning- from your the post before this one, ...Good morning- from your the post before this one, it sounds like you've actually been quite busy. A day of rest sounds just about right to me. A nice balance really.
Oh, I can almost smell those cookies. Is that how your son ended up in your apartment? Can he smell the baking in the hall? Hope he's fully recovered from his fainting spell.
Weather here has been odd to say the least. The storm this week added over a foot of snow. Freezing rain fell yesterday. The weather forecasters here continue to change the forecast almost hourly! And next week, the temps are supposed to be 'almost spring-like'. HA! I'll believe that when it happens.
As to the news, I find that I keep pushing the mute button on my tv and then just give up and read a book. My overriding thought is 'oh, what poor losers'.
cheers, SJ in Vancouver BCAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6292915201767940326.post-39880000217956841332017-02-10T07:39:39.610-06:002017-02-10T07:39:39.610-06:00In other words your days are getting back to norma...In other words your days are getting back to normal for a retired person....After reading several other blogs our winter is just fine.Robhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16800149852939042454noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6292915201767940326.post-45058831152671065192017-02-09T16:56:24.496-06:002017-02-09T16:56:24.496-06:00Jenn...Hope your boy gets to feeling better soon. ...Jenn...Hope your boy gets to feeling better soon. The flu bug is making the rounds here.
It has been a nice day. Oldest son came over and sat patiently waiting for the cookies to come out of the oven. :)
I vote for spring. At least then there aren't as many variables as in winter. It either rains or it doesn't. Suits me!
