With the rain, only a half dozen were in the store, so the entire experience was pleasant. For the most part, they are pleasant and relatively polite.

I have never seen a grocery store that has been cleaned out prior to a storm. The only predictable storms here are winter blizzards, and I haven't seen one of those since the Halloween blizzard of 1991. But seeing the news reports of the devastation from hurricanes in the east and south and the suffering of people during those times, along with the memory of how tough it was a number of years ago when I was out of work for a time, has made me determined to be able to take care of myself and my family no matter what happens.

Guess that comes from being raised by Depression era parents. And knowing that I don't ever again want to wonder where our next meal is coming from.Vickihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09409645438732452330noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6292915201767940326.post-63108451503790200912013-09-20T22:49:58.220-05:002013-09-20T22:49:58.220-05:00Before hurricane Ike, I went to the grocery store ...Before hurricane Ike, I went to the grocery store and happened to arrive a few minutes before they locked the doors, so the employees could evacuate.

The people were polite, but the run on groceries just about emptied the shelves of many items.

It was a sobering experience. You never think of the grocery shelves empty, until you see it happen.Jesshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15969361446367636746noreply@blogger.com
