Let it Snow, Let it Snow, etc.

Just heard the forecast for our area.  Snow starting this evening and lasting until noon tomorrow.  Talking about anywhere from 4 to 8 inches of the stuff.

They will be playing Bumper Cars out on the freeway again.  The tow truck drivers are doing a happy dance.

Oh, well.  I have the fixins for hot chocolate.  And for a really good pot of soup with cornbread.  And if I turn my recliner just a little bit to the left, I can watch the snow fall outside my window from there.  Works for me.

  1. They say east metro will get the most. Will see. Yes its time to forget about how to drive again. I for one plan on staying home. Tomorrow is also Federal Holiday, P.O. closed as are the Banks. School should be closed, but I think many will use tomorrow as a make up day for the days closed last month.

  2. Rob...I forgot about the holiday. I don't know about the schools. At any rate, seems like a good day to stay in. Coward that I am, that's where I will be.

  3. Gorges...That's pretty much my standard plan for snow and cold! I've been using it a lot this winter!

  4. There's nothing like sitting quietly, sipping a hot drink and watching Winter turn a gray day into a bitter cold mess of freezing precipitation, from the warmth of a home.

We're blessed, but not by riches. Contentment, comfort and the moments of peace are worth more than all the gold in the universe.

  5. Jess...You hit that nail squarely on the head. I am of two minds when it comes to our winters. I loathe going outdoors in the cold and ice and snow. On the other hand, the beauty of the falling snow, the way the city looks when its dirt and grime are covered by a fresh white blanket and the absolute peace of a snowy winter evening are gifts that I treasure.

  6. I've had rare moments, when I walked in the cold North wind that cut like a knife and turned my fingers numb; the ends so painful, I couldn't take any more.

When I could get out of the cold, and watch it from the warmth of a comfortable room, the beauty was mesmerizing. The scenery covered with fresh snow appears clean; like a coating of fresh paint on a dingy wall.

  7. Jess...I think my favorite place of all to watch snowfall is the northern pine woods. There it is so still...so quiet that you can almost hear the flakes touch the ground. It is so beautiful that I can't find words to describe it.

  9. Rob...I haven't had TV on, but WCCO website says 4 - 8 inches, and Fox9 says 3 - 6. Sometimes I think your guess and mine are just as good as theirs!!

  12. Small world. I'm on the other side of town! I maybe should have asked Santa for a dog team and sled, if we are getting that much snow. Hasn't started here yet. I hear the morning is going to be interesting, tho.

  13. Are you closer to Valleyfair then??

We are about two blocks from Hwy 12. The BNSF railroad runs by us going east west. A friend of mine lives in Belle Plain and drives 169 to 494 to work at Sun Country Airlines.

  16. Rob...in the small world department - when I was a kid, my family would meet in Dassel for family reunions. I grew up in Willmar, so when we went to visit my grandmother in St. Paul, we took Hwy. 12 through Cokato. While researching family for my interest in genealogy, I found that some of them farmed in Meeker county around Dassel. Don't think any are left there any more.

  17. It is a small world. After 7 years in Los Angels in the 70's and 6 years in Orlando, I love the small town life.
