This afternoon my oldest granddaughter became Private Nicole.
She will finish High School this coming spring and toward the end of summer will leave for Basic Training.
I want to cry because my grandbaby is all grown up. But I can't because I am way too proud of her to shed tears. She did not come to this decision easily. She gave it serious thought, did her research and decided that the Army was the best fit for her.
Nicki, I have always been proud of the person you are, but I have never been more proud of you than I am right now.
Love, Grandma

Congratulations to her and all her family.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Gorges. Our family appreciates it.
ReplyDeleteA very proud grandma for sure.
ReplyDeleteMay she take it in stride, roll with the punches, and may God protect her everywhere she goes.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Rob...Her entire family is so very proud of her.
ReplyDeleteRev. Paul...Thank you. I have been struggling to find the right words and you seem to have found them for me.
ReplyDeleteDoes she know yet what her military occupational specialty will be. Admin and pay, supply, are good things for women because when they leave the service they make good resume items. Also, it's better to be in the rear with the gear than out in the blood and mud.
ReplyDeleteHarry...I don't know about the mud, but she will be dealing with the blood. She is planing to train as a medic. She is so sure of her chosen field of work that she has already signed up for 8 years rather than the usual 4 years, although she can be in the Army Reserve the last 4 years if she wants. Pride and worry go hand in hand, don't they!!
