It Was With Dismay...

that I read the last post from Frank and Fern.

I have been reading their blog, Thoughts From Frank and Fern, for quite some time now.  They have been a source of valuable information for homesteaders and for those of us who understand that the future in America is tenuous at best.   They have been an inspiration to me as well as to many, many others.  I will never be able to thank them enough for all they have done to encourage those of us who are on a similar path.  Even though many wish to pretend that all is well, we have only to read the headlines to know their warnings are true.

I completely understand their decision to spend their time in preparation rather than in blogging.  Very few have earned the kind of respect I have for them, even though we have met only through blog comments.  I wish only the best for them.

But oh, how I will miss them.

  1. The government now has a way to shut down all of the phone and internet during an emergency so you never know when it might be the last posting. There comes a time to devote energy to getting ready and they must have reached that point. I have never seen their blog so I don't know the situation. I think my area will get a slower winding down to 3rd world status, at least that is what has been going on so far.

  2. Vicki, I thank you for your kind words and I echo your sentiment. You have inspired me many times with your straight forward, never ending energy and determination. I will still be reading your scribbles, but will be anonymous from here on out. May the Lord bless and keep you. Fern

  3. Sunnybrook Farm...The government can pretty much do whatever they want just by declaring an emergency. I live very close to a major city, so I would expect 3rd world status to arrive here more with a bang than with a whimper. The headlines seem to worsen by the day. Although I don't talk about it much, I find myself ramping up my preparation efforts more than before. I wouldn't be at all surprised to see more of us doing the same while we still can.

  4. Fern...I will miss you, but I completely get it. Privacy is a thing of the past. I believe that others are now debating whether anonymity would be the best route to take. I wouldn't be at all surprised to find others following the same path. Take care of yourselves, and please know how much I appreciate all you have done. May God truly bless the two of you as well, my friend.

  5. The feeling of loss I felt last night surprised me, too. At first I thought "it's just a blog, come on now". This morning I read the many comments that had been posted and realized I was not alone in those feelings. It just reminds me that I never know who will touch my life or who I might impact as well.
Best get on with my day. Cheers, SJ in Vancouver BC Canada

  6. SJ...Yeah, I'm really going to miss them, too. I learned so much from reading their blog and it seemed about the time I found myself slacking off there would be a post that served as a well placed kick in the backside to remind me of just what we are facing. Sometimes I think about just shutting down my blog, but when I think of how much I would miss those of you who visit here and comment, I just can't stop yet. Hope your day is a good one. It is indoor time for us, as temps the next few days are going to go right past chilly down to damn cold!
