What if...

I have been watching news reports about the protests and riots that have been happening in major cities across our land.  Those on the political left blame those on the right and vice versa.  Each ethnic group blames the other.  It seems like no matter what a person's beliefs are, we feel the need to attach blame to those who differ.  I don't think our country has been this divided since the Civil War.

I wonder what would happen if we as a nation could act like grown-ups and take responsibility for our own actions.  What if we expended as much energy on fixing the problems that divide us as we do in tearing us apart.  I know this is probably just a pipe dream.

But what if...

  1. Vicki - It's sad to see the protests happening in the US right now. But, it seems that protest are prevalent everywhere at the moment. We've just been through a few weeks, and, in the not too distant future, will go through more.

Protests are fine - as long as the criminal element stays home. When they don't then unnecessary (re)actions happen. It is almost as though the criminials use such events as an excuse for misbehaving.

    But yeah, what if...?

  2. Dani...Sorry to hear you are going through the same kind of crap that we are. Things have been so crazy here that I haven't paid enough attention to the rest of the world.

I have no problem with peaceful protests. But you are right. The criminal elements here take advantage of the situation to burn and loot and destroy. What starts out as a perfectly legitimate protest then turns into a riot.

We seem to be more interested in assigning blame than we are in finding solutions. Seems to me that if we stopped yelling at one another long enough to find some common ground, it would be better. And we need to learn that nobody always gets their own way in everything. I guess I just want to see my country get to the point where we could live our lives without all of the hate and discontent. I will pray for your country. Please pray for mine.

  4. Rob...I really don't think anything will ever change for the better unless we can stop blaming one another and work at getting back the country we all love. It may already be too late, but I guess I just am not ready to give up yet. :)

  5. keep praying.
electoral college could legally ignore our vote and go their own way, today they are just corrupt enough to do it.
also long time until january 20th. much harm in these next weeks could be done and has probably already been planned.
we should be praying every day even when things are going well.

  6. The rioters mostly are paid protesters, NOT the whimpering idiots we saw right after the election. Soros is the money behind the riots, and his purpose is to try to start a civil war so Obama can declare martial law. I suspect a lot of the "protests" in other countries are funded by him, too. A lot of folks don't know that during WW II, we was a teenage Nazi collaborator who turned on his fellow Jews. He later called that time "the best years of his life."

  7. We'll have to undergo some epic cleansing event, some trial by fire, to set things straight. Those pampered, protected, subsidized Sheeple will never change of their own accord.

  8. Act like grownups? You mean the adults could do that? What a novel idea!

  9. deborah...I can not believe the leaders on the left will allow Trump to take the oath of office. They have way too much to lose. You are right...we need to be vigilant and keep praying for I fear that one way or another, they will try to take this victory away from we the people.

  10. Gorges...You are spot on. I can't believe that "spontaneous" protests broke out in nearly every major city coast to coast. It is just too down pat to be coincidence. I have expected for quite some time now that Obama would figure out a way to stop the inauguration. I hope I am wrong.

  11. Harry...The only time I remember this country coming together to face a common cause was in the wake of 9/11. And that didn't last very long. I think you are right. Too many are not willing to work for what they get as our generation has done. Sometimes I think the only way to save our country is to take it down to the ground and start over.

  12. Linda...You have "snark" down to a science. I love it. :)
I wonder what the world would be like if people actually told the truth and took responsibility for their actions.
