Bait

I have an apple pie in the oven.  I'm guessing that sometime later today I will see Duane walk through the door carrying a plate and a fork.  If he wants it ala mode, he will have to stop at the store on his way home.

The best bait to use to get kids to come round are baked goodies.   Pie and cookies work the best.  :)

  1. Just popping in to say 'Hello'. It's a beautiful spring day here ahead of another rain storm. Went to my gardens and talked myself into 'only' watering - no work really other then harvesting some asparagus. There was enough for dinner tonight and a serving for the freezer. Take good care. SJ

    1. Hi SJ...Temps here have dropped down into the 60's, but as long as there is no snow involved, I am happy.

I am working on the freezer meal thing and have ordered some ingredients to be delivered tomorrow. Mostly am trying to use from my pantry. Will do a post in a couple of days. Take care.

    2. I'll look forward to the post. Have fun with it!!
The rain came in last night and is supposed to be here for a few days. Can't say I'm sorry, it's a break from the gardens for a day at least. I'm going to run a few errands and then hunker down to read a mystery. Dinner will be a 5-Bean soup with ham, all from the pantry. I used to make up the bean mix myself but found it on sale a while back.
      Cheers, SJ

    3. SJ...Cooler weather here with showers. Today is cleaning lady day so I will spend part of the afternoon just staying out of her way. :)
Mystery book sounds like a plan. Might do the same. Your bean soup reminded me of the ham bones in the freezer. Think I will soak beans overnight. Love me some ham and beans.

  2. I had a friend that way. I invited her over one day and she would not come, wanted me to come to her house. When she asked what I was doing, I said baking a pie or something. An hour later, she walked straight in the door, straight to the kitchen and hitched the chair up and acted like she expected me to set goodies before her. I was so annoyed that I just kept doing whatever I was doing and we talked as I worked. Later, she called and asked me why I did not give her some of the pie. I told her I invited her and she was adamant that she did not have time. So, it was in the refrigerator.

This friend would come to my house and ask for a glass of milk because she had not had a glass of milk in weeks. One day, I hid a new gallon in the laundry room. She was a school teacher and I was struggling. Some days, I thought she only came to my house to eat!!! Now, if she were a child of mine, that would be different.

    1. Linda...I have had friends like that. The ones who show up only when there is something in it for them.

This post was just to get a smile out of my kids. And because I didn't have anything to wrote about. Now I'm waiting for my grocery delivery today so I can put together some freezer meals and write about that.

    2. I knew you were teasing and neither of us would mind our children coming to eat.

I have managed to cull those friends.
