Thanks for this post, Vicki! I just pray the people have not given up their freedoms so easily and will never be able to get them back. Fear, panic, and propaganda may have already won :(
That is my concern too, lynney62...I am still astounded at how many are meekly hiding under their beds waiting for some government official to give them permission to go outside. If we do not grow a collective spine soon, we are done.
What gets me, Vicki, is how many "educated" people have been sucked into this thing, hook, line, and sinker! My mom is one of these; has the "Rachael Maddow App" on her computer, if that's any indication; smart lady (my mom; not the Lesbian Longneck); College-educated; nice lady; compassionate lady; but totally brainwashed into thinking that COVID-19 will be "Doomsday except for the most remote parts of the Earth." Those were her exact words! She doesn't see herself losing her freedoms. She sees it as a "sacrifice" for the "common good." She just doesn't get it. Getting the RAFT of PERMANENT laws aimed at this TEMPORARY situation off the books is going to be like getting the smoke back into a cigarette!
There's no getting through to people like this though. Tell them your views, and you be told something like "I'm worried for you." In other words, "your stupid and you're nuts because you don't agree with me."
No... I'm afraid this is something we're going to have to fight our way out of...
You know Pete...if those around me (some - not all) had their way, I would be sitting in a padded room, wearing a huggy jacket, quietly rocking back and forth due to my opinions about both preparing and the virus. I have all but given up trying to explain either.
I am called selfish because I am not willing to sacrifice my God given rights for the common good. I look back in history and it is easy to see what happened to those whose rights were demolished. The Jews during WWII and the Chinese under Mao come to mind. Nope. Not gonna do it.
If you haven't already seen it, take a look at the video Old NFO put up on his blog, "Nobody Asked Me...". The link to his blog is in my sidebar.
We have been snookered. Have been led skipping down the garden path to destruction. It isn't about a virus at all. It is all about control. The only ray of hope I see is that some are protesting and others are beginning to ignore the BS and are taking tentative steps at getting on with their lives. But it will take much more than that if we are to ever claim to be a free nation again. God keep you, my friend.
You are welcome, SJ...I thought it was one of the better explanations of what is happening here. I trust Ice Age Farmer's videos because he doesn't just speculate. He provides documentation for what he says. My opinion, for what it is worth - we are in deep doo when it comes to our food supply. Me - I'm buying up as much as possible now while I still can. Later may be too late. Take care!
I didn't see Tucker the night he went on that rant; he sure nailed it though. I am glad he is regained his senses because he went off the rails for a few weeks. Re the economy, President Trump said the other day we did it before and we'll do it again and faster!
sbrgirl...I don't agree with anybody all the time, but Tucker was spot on with this one. I pray Trump is right about the economy. We need to get past this nonsense of locking up healthy people and get back to work.
I asked you about raisins just read that raisins and craisins can get botulism if mylarred and oxygen absorber eyed If true wanted to warn you so maybe your idea to dehydrate them is a good one?
Thanks for the warning deb...I tried making my own raisins by dehydrating grapes, but they turned out really bad. The edges were crispy and the centers still soft. Wound up tossing them. I don't use raisins very often, so they are something I could live without.
Sadly, I no longer have dogs so I don't have to worry about kibble. I keep granulated sugar on hand as well as molasses, so I make my own brown sugar as needed. I use 1 cup sugar and 1 tablespoon of molasses. I work the molasses into the sugar with a mixer until it is fully incorporated. Can't tell the difference from store bought. I didn't know that brown sugar could go bad, so I guess I will continue to make my own as needed. Take care.
Mom of four, Grandma of six, and Great Grandma of two, who writes about events both past and present, about preparedness and an occasional rant tossed in for good measure, as well as anything else that happens to come to mind, and who enjoys my retired life in general.
I used to really like Tucker, but I haven't watched him since the night that he dissed my home state a couple years ago.
ReplyDeleteYou might want to reconsider, Gorges. He is one of the few who is standing up for the rest of us.

Thanks for posting this.
ReplyDeleteI also just watched iceAgeFarmers video from three days ago about food shortages.
Cheers, SJ in Vancouver BC
