Sunday Was Weird...

All day I felt strange. Normally, I am busy. If I'm not working on preparedness related things, I am crocheting on my grandson's afghan or sewing or doing those pesky housekeeping chores that always seem to need attention. But not Sunday.

I was tired. I was sort of in a fog. I would think I needed to go do something but instead just sat there and did not get up to do whatever it was.

It was late afternoon before the fog lifted enough to realize this was exactly how I felt just before I went on oxygen.

I checked my machine that produces oxygen and it was running perfectly. I checked the plastic tubing that attaches me to the machine. And found a place where there was a crack. My apartment was being well oxygenated. I was not.

What to do. It is Sunday. I expect the company that owns the machine might have sent someone out to replace the tubing. But I needed it fixed now. The solution – duct tape.

I patched the hole with duct tape. Oxygen was now freely flowing and before long I was back to what resembles a normal state for me.

Whatever did we do before duct tape?

My point to this little saga is that stuff happens. Every day the likelihood of being in need of having something fixed and being able to get it done with one phone call is fading fast.

Granted, there are jobs that require professional help. But what about the every day things that need fixing.  We need to know how to do stuff.

We are never too old to learn. And a good, strong application of common sense doesn't hurt either.

The Cavalry is not riding in to save the day. The more we can do for ourselves, the better.

  1. I love duct tape. My hubby does not love that I love duct tape, haha!
Glad you were able to solve the problem yourself, Vicki. God bless.

    1. LindaG...If we can't fix it with duct tape, zip ties or Super Glue, chances are it can't be fixed. :) Take care.

  2. It pays to be as self-sufficient as possible. Just like emergency rooms, they'd let you die before breaking procedure.

    1. Gorges...It is getting to the point where self-sufficiency is becoming necessary. We need to be able to fix stuff because new is either unaffordable or unavailable.

  3. Duct tape to the rescue! So happy you were able to use what you had on hand. We had better be stocked up with Biden's dark winter coming...

  4. My coworkers have always laughed at my "prepper" attitude. Funny though; whenever they've needed something; duct tape, Crazy Glue, or that funky screwdriver that only someone with a screw loose would actually have, they've knocked on my door. I'm referred to as "MacGyver" at work. No; really. At home, I can't count the times since I started prepping when the "TEOTWAWKI" event was something like "We don't have any spaghetti sauce" or "Do you have one of those Band Aids the size of the palm of your hand?" "How about a pipe fitting for...?"

I'm retired Coast Guard. The Coast Guard motto is "Semper Paratus" Always Prepared. I took it to heart. I still do.

Get yourself a roll of Gorilla Tape, Vicki. It's duct tape on steroids! 'Come in white and black, too... ...And "Shoe Goo" (or "Goop"). That stuff's GREAT for PERMANENT repairs on things like hoses, air mattresses, and the like! I fixed a crack in the hose on my vacuum... ten years ago... It's STILL holding!

    1. (Don McCollor)...Yes adapt, improvise. Besides duct tape, also electrical tape, masking tape, Scotch tape, bandage tape, adhesive strip on a bandage, the barrel of a pen (as a connector). Growing up on a farm, the goal was to fix a problem. Some became permanent temporary solutions...

    2. Pete...I know I am not as well prepared with items to fix stuff as is MacGyver, but I do try. Plumbing and electrical problems are above my pay grade, but I can wield a roll of duct tape with the best of them. :)

Thanks for the suggestions for Gorilla Tape and Goop. Both will be added to my stash shortly.

    3. Don...Being able to improvise is as important as having the right tools. That and the willingness to fix things rather than just toss and buy new as so many do now.

My Dad didn't farm when I was young, but did as a young man. He could fix anything. And he believed in "use it up and wear it out." I have watched him glue the soles of his work boots back on rather than buy new. Being able and willing to fix things is a step toward self-sufficiency.

  5. For the past several years as I've stocked up on medicines and medical supplies, I've tried to tell myself that we will never need this. But I couldn't help stocking up.

Now we're being told that our local hospital is at "code purple." The surrounding urban hospitals--which are hours away--have been turning away patients. Our hospital is now turning away patients as well. There is no place else to go. They say that it doesn't matter if it's a broken leg or appendicitis; there is no alternative. What about simple pneumonia or dehydration?

I wish I didn't think my medical supplies could be coming in handy very soon.

    1. Jennifer...Stocking up on everything we need to live has become critical. But medical supplies are particularly important due to the large number of hospital and clinic staff who will not comply with the vax mandates.

In my opinion, it is criminal what the powers that be are doing to 'we the people' by making it impossible to receive the medical attention that so many need. They tell us it is for our own good. Yet many will die because of these mandates. Makes no sense to me at all.

I want to thank you for the time and effort you put into your blog, (https://prepschooldaily.blogspot.com/).
I have spent a lot of time making notes from your pages, especially those that deal with medical issues. I fear we all are going to need all the help we can get, for very soon I believe we will be on our own in many areas of our lives. Take care.

    2. Vicki,

When the goal is genocide, everything that the powers that be are doing makes perfect sense.

Voltaire said something along the lines of "Anyone who can make you believe absurdities can make you commit atrocities." We've seen this throughout the whole covid debacle with the "we're all going to die unless we do xyz" crowd believing the most insane sewage spewed from the government and others with their agenda.

My hope is that the doctors and nurses who refuse the jab will somehow set up their own clinics or start making house calls. Unfortunately, while they will have some limited equipment, they won't have supplies. In addition, even if they are allowed to write prescriptions, most of our pharmaceuticals come from China. And even if that weren't a major problem, our supply chain is in shambles. So we've got to be prepared to bring our own band-aids.

So much to learn and prep, and so little time. Thank you for all you do to wake people up.

    3. Yeah, Vicki, it's also criminal to force people to take the jab or lose their jobs. The owner of the company I work for is doing the same thing, and WAS doing this before the sole occupant of the White House Memory Care Center "mandated" it. "The Occupant" has also taken to making any of "THE UNVACCINATED" who work at the White House wear neon-colored bands on their wrists. Gee; that's NOTHING like the Star Of David Hitler forced the Jews to wear; is it?

    4. Jennifer...This whole virus thing has smelled like week old dead fish right from the beginning. What scares the hell out of me is the number of people who bought into the lies and followed along like sheep to the slaughter.

It is all about control. It is all about the 'elite' to whom depopulation is the goal. The virus is just a tool to get what they want.

I would love to see doctors and nurses who have the good sense to refuse the jab, set up clinics for those of us who are like minded. It won't be easy. I have been looking for a different doctor since mine recommended I take the jab. No luck with that so far.

The more we learn - the more we add to our supplies - the better off we will be. Just for the record, God gave me an immune system that works pretty darned well. I have been exposed to the virus twice that I know of with no ill effects. Personally, I will continue to build up my immune system with vitamins C and D and with zinc rather than take a jab that in all likelihood, will kill me.

Sadly, there seems to be no reasoning with those who believe life will return to normal if everyone just takes the shot. The time for talk has passed. The only thing we can do now is make sure we are as prepared as we can be to take care of ourselves and our families. God help us all.

    5. Seems to me, Pete, that if this shot was so good, there would be no need to bribe or threaten people to take it. I am not anti-vaccine. Throughout my lifetime I have been vaccinated against all sorts of diseases. But I will not subject myself to something about which so little is known. Or something that is being forced upon the population if they want to keep their jobs and feed their families. That doesn't pass the smell test - not even close.

The 'Star of David' wrist bands and anything else that divides the vaccinated from the unvaccinated, totally smacks of Nazi behavior. And the 'vaccine passports' are nothing less than 'Show us your papers' from the same era.

I don't know what to do about it all except to continue to do what I believe is right. That does not include allowing someone to inject poison into my arm.

    1. Red...The oxygen company has once already replaced the main machine when it stopped working. I have called for replacement tubes and they are being sent to me. In the meantime, the duct tape is holding. :)

Thanks for the link. It is good to hear that some countries have awakened to the scam. I don't expect our government to start telling the truth any time soon, but at least there is the possibility they may be forced to. One can always hope.

    1. Tewshooz...The company gave me a spare tube when I first started this oxygen thing, but when I took it out of the packaging, I found it was too short to be useful. I have ordered two tubes long enough to reach all areas in my apartment. Until they arrive, the duct tape is still holding up well.

  9. Glad you’re breathing well again, Vicki. Not breathing correctly is NOT GOOD.

Duct tape, WD-40, and paper clips can fix almost anything. Oh and toothpicks come in handy, too. Once fixed a thermostat with one.

When I was a kid, I thought it was “duck” tape. I remember asking my dad what the grey tape had to do with ducks. The confused look on his face was priceless and I was kind of disappointed when he explained. Ducks were a lot more interesting than ducts.

And yes, I’m avoiding the news, etc for just a bit. Need a break.

    1. Thanks, LTM...Yep. Lack of enough oxygen apparently sends me off into my own little dream world and I don't like it there.

All those little things that most people have around the house can come in handy when we figure out how to fix things rather than just giving up and tossing them. Years ago it was said you could fix most everything with chewing gum and baling wire. Now it is duct tape and WD-40!

I still hear some refer to 'duck tape.' And ducks are far more interesting than ducts. :)

I am staying away from much of the news, too. My tolerance level for lies and BS is at an all time low. Take care.
