things actually work out.
You may remember that in a previous post I was bemoaning the fact that one of my nurses was clueless when it came to being prepared.
Same nurse. Yesterday. Telling me about her purchases to be stored for future emergencies. Asking my advice about pressure canners. Wanting to know how I store water in an apartment where I can't have those huge water storage containers.
She told me that her husband has been interested in preparing and was delighted that she now thinks it is a good idea. Feel like together, they can accomplish something good.
This gives me reason to hope. Sometimes when we are surrounded by people who live in a world that is not real, we tend to feel like all is lost. Then along comes someone who restores our faith in the human race.
Thank you, God.
That's wonderful! You just never know who you might influence!
ReplyDeleteMandy...I am just happy that one more person will have a fighting chance when things go bad.
DeleteGod put you in this place for such a time as this. There are no coincidences, just small miracles and sometimes they include us. Have a blessed Easter.
ReplyDeleteSue...God surely gets the credit on this one! Wishing you and yours a blessed Easter as well.
DeleteTo have influenced and seen a younger person learn from you is indeed wonderful. I have a feeling that she will return with more questions for you. Congratulations on you mentorship!
ReplyDeleteSarge...That another person realizes the importance of preparing is a good thing. I'm just happy that she wants to learn.
ReplyDeleteHi Vicki.
ReplyDeleteHow about that! Sometimes young people do listen. And I bet her husband would love to give you a big hug.
Have a blessed Easter weekend….Jan
Jan...Had to giggle to myself just a bit when she told me about watching prepping videos. Saw something she thought they should have. Hubby said he had already purchased the item. :) I am just glad that she gets it!!
DeleteMay you and yours be blessed.
You just never know when people will wake up. I keep hoping a dear friend will see the benefits of a 'deep' pantry.
ReplyDeleteGood for this nurse and her husband to get started. And good on her that she was willing to ask for some advice from you. Makes my day, too.
SJ now in California
SJ...I am just tickled that she is now on the right path. We both know how handy that deep pantry is, even in good times. And we wish those we care about could understand. Sometimes, prayers are answered!
DeleteGod for you, Vicki!!! All we can do is broadcast the seed, and as in the Bible, we have no control as to what kind of soil the seed lands in. Here's to hoping that nurse will share her thinking with others she interacts with!
ReplyDeleteHave a blessed Easter!
This is from Pete Forester, by the way. For some reason my posts are going up as "anonymous..."
DeletePete...After originally listening to her tell me she didn't need to prepare because others would just take care of her, I am thrilled that she has changed her tune!!
DeleteI am not surprised with the 'anonymous' glitch. Have run into several variations over the years. Didn't understand any of them. :)
Blessed Easter to you Vicki ... It used to be common for older folks like us to coach the kids on how to live stuff , not so much anymore. We sure have the experience ! I think the internet is to blame for them not asking ! Ask her some questions about any specifics she would like to know more about ... also mention prepping can be one or two items at a time , also gardening ... things like that ! Blessings to you and yours , Patrick
ReplyDeletePatrick...My generation and those before me were preppers without the title. Putting food and supplies back and saving "for a rainy day" was just a way of life. Now...not so much.
DeleteI am encouraged by the fact that this nurse has begun to ask questions. Seems particularly interested in home canning. I am happy to help where I can.
May God bless you and yours, my friend.
Great to read this, Vicki.
ReplyDeleteSorry for the late comment. Haven't been keeping up too well, lately.
Hope you had a blessed Easter.
