Two Good Eyes

Had the second cataract surgery this morning.  It went well.  I am told that I will have nearly perfect distance vision when the left eye heals.  So all that remains are two check-ups and the purchase of reading glasses for close work.  I am grateful that I could have a lifelong vision problem corrected as well as getting rid of the cataracts.  I honestly had no idea just how bad they were until they were removed.  The difference is amazing.

So now I am off to fix a sandwich, pour a much needed cup of coffee and then a nap.  And with any kind of luck at all, I will be able to get back to my regularly scheduled program very soon.

  1. That means you should sit as far back from your front door as possible when things totally break down..... that way you can easily drop them with your firearm when they come through your door.

    Seriously, glad it went well.

  2. Thanks, Matt...I am just glad that it is done and before long I can get back to whatever passes for normal.

As to your suggestion...I'm taking it under advisement. And I think if I just slide my recliner about 8 inches to the right, it will work. :)

  3. Glad to hear all is well. My husband hardly ever wears his glasses at all. Before he retired the people he worked with would laugh and tell him to go to the eye doctor. He would nearly have his nose on the computer screen to see it. It's a miracle what doctors can do today.

  4. Thank you, steakandeggs...I can sympathize with your husband. After years of having to hold things close to read them, it is incredible to me that I will be able to see clearly to read with just the help of ordinary reading glasses. I have never been able to see things at a distance clearly. So now I am impatient for the second eye to heal so I can go take a look at the world around me and actually SEE it!!! Kind of like a kid with a new toy. :)

  8. Aw, thank you, Mary. I was still just a bit wobbly from the anesthetic when I got home, so no happy dance. But a grin from ear to ear worked just as well!

  9. That sounds really good. If you can do something to improve your physical condition at our age, that's a real bonus!

  10. Thanks, Harry...It will take a little bit of time for my eyes to settle down, but I can see a huge improvement already. The bonus for me is not having to buy new glasses every couple of years, and not having to worry about breaking the ones I have (or had). I was always kind of rough on them. :)

  12. That's funny, Rob...It isn't so much what everyone looks like. It's more the before unseen dust bunnies under the bed and the dusty furniture. Now that I can see all that I need to get busy! :)

  13. So glad all went well! It is wonderful what can be done to help us seasoned citizens! I do wear glasses after my surgeries, but mainly because of my astigmatism. I can see pretty well without my glasses, but enjoy the crisp clear vision I have with them. So happy for you and your new seeing ability!!

    Blessings!

  14. Thank you, CottonLady...I had the post-op checkup this afternoon and everything looks good. The second eye seems to be clearing up quicker than did the first so I'm really enjoying my new vision. I will try the over the counter reading glasses first. My daughter uses them with her contacts and likes them. If they don't work that well, I'll just get prescription glasses. But all in all, I am absolutely thrilled with the results so far!!

  15. Two good eyes Mom scribbles in the morning from her blog. Even before coffee she is seeing enough to write to us, the public. Eye surgery is no laughing matter and has to be scary as this busy Mom reflects to her captive blog audience even before she makes her coffee.
