My windowsill garden is growing by leaps and bounds. The snap beans are about 6 inches tall, though kind of leggy. But they are leafing out so I guess they are OK. I may have to stake them up before they fall over.
There are 7 green pea plants, all healthy and leafy. I have two pots of cherry tomatoes and I thinned them out this morning. When they get bigger I will thin again and save the best looking plants.
The cucumbers, zucchini and cantaloupe are all about 4 inches tall and looking good.
So far the bell peppers haven't sprouted. I will give them another week and if they don't poke through the soil by then, I will plant something else in that pot.
I water my little garden every other evening and have notes posted here and there to remind me to do so. That schedule seems to be working well so far.
Now if I can just rein in my homicidal tendencies toward houseplants, this might actually work out.
I'm stoked!

I think everything I planted is going to rot. We've had so much rain the ground squishes when you walk on it, and we have red clay here!
ReplyDeleteHarry, I wish I could send some of our dry and sunny days your way. I don't imagine clay makes for easy gardening in the first place, but add that much water and it is nearly impossible. Hope things dry out there, soon.
DeleteGlad to hear the veggies are growing so well!
ReplyDeleteJenn...I am totally amazed. Even if I get no food from them, it is still fun to watch them grow.
DeletePeppers are normally slow to peek above ground - give them a bit more time...😉
ReplyDeleteDani...I looked at that pot about an hour ago and to my complete surprise I saw seven or eight tiny leaves breaking through the soil. There may be hope yet!
Deleteif your peppers don't come put some of the extra tomato seedlings in their pot.
ReplyDeleteGood idea, deborah...I think there might be some signs of life in the bell pepper pot, but if not, I will transplant tomatoes.
DeleteWell it sounds a lot more promising than mine right now. We've had too much rain, and it's really complicating garden matters.
ReplyDelete". . . homicidal tendencies toward houseplants . . ."
ReplyDeleteI laughed reading that.
Lisa...I have heard several people say the rain has made gardening difficult. Hope things dry out some for you. I'm lucky. All I have to do is remember to water the plants. Of course, at my age, that may be a problem. :)
DeleteIt is true, BW. My kids don't give me house plants as gifts any more because they know sooner or later I will murder them. The plants - not the kids. :)
DeleteI wrote a comment yesterday and it was gone when I hit publish...Good for you with keeping your plants alive. They must like that light, etc.
ReplyDeleteWatered today but it's supposed to rain tomorrow. Actually looking forward to the break in gardening action. Take care, SJ
SJ...I have no clue why your comments disappear. I have not had that happen before. Computer gremlins!
DeleteThe plants are thriving. Even the peppers are finally starting to poke through. Hope I can keep them that way, but I make no promises. :)
We could use some cooling rain - close to 90 degrees this week. I won't complain though. There is no snow in the forecast so all is well.
Enjoy your break. Do something fun.
