My phone rang first thing this morning. It was my son calling to tell me that he had just received a text from his Aunt telling him he had been accepted into the rehab program at the Sister Kenny Center at Abbott Northwestern Hospital. It is not easy to get into this program. Patients have to wait for an opening. His Aunt is in a supervisory position at that hospital and even though she denies having anything to do with it, I have a sneaky suspicion that one or two strings were pulled to get him in. Duane hasn't sounded this upbeat since this whole ordeal began.
There is no denying the power of prayer. My heartfelt thanks to you all who have been praying and voicing your support. I wonder if you have any idea how much this means to my family.
And most importantly - Thanks be to God.

Such good news! I will continue to keep all of you in my prayers. CW
ReplyDeleteWe are excited! According to the doctors, this is the very best place to be for his recovery. Thank you so much for your prayers and support.
DeleteGod is good sometimes we have to wit a long time for the results but things are moving well for duane
ReplyDeletedeb...His chances for success have improved greatly with this move. Thank God for answered prayer.
DeleteYes, never underestimate the power of prayer. I'm saying one of thanksgiving right now for both you and Duane. And for family who are in just the right place to help -- another God thing, imo.
ReplyDeleteCheers, SJ
SJ...Thank you so much. No doubt prayer is powerful! There are several of the Sister Kenny Centers in Minnesota, but we really wanted Duane to be at the one in Minneapolis because it is the one closest to family. And Shazam!! He is headed there in about an hour or so. God is truly good to us.
DeleteGreat news!

ReplyDeletesbrgirl...Thank you so much. Prayers are welcome. The hard part is just beginning.
DeleteI do strongly believe besides God, its who you know. I got 3 jobs that way. My last interview was Hi I'm Joan, Hi I'm Rob, that was it. So very happy to hear. I know Abbott very well.
ReplyDeleteRob...I'm just glad that he was able to get into Abbott's stroke rehab program, no matter how it was accomplished. It gives him the best chance to get his life back.
DeleteGreat news Vicki! Continued prayers for Duane! ~ Debbie
ReplyDeleteThanks, Debbie. We just want him to get well and now he has an excellent chance. God doesn't always answer our prayers the way we would like, but this time we couldn't ask for any better.
DeleteThat's great news Vicki!
ReplyDeleteKristine...It is a relief to know he is getting the best care possible.
DeleteI'm just getting caught up reading your blog. Praying for your son and his continued improvement!
ReplyDeleteThank you, One Family...Prayers are very much appreciated.
DeletePraying he'll both settle in quickly and come home quickly. Hope he wasn't too tired after the transfer.
ReplyDeleteTake good care of yourself as well.
SJ and MrDog
SJ...Duane called last evening. He sounded little tired but was in good spirits. He is more than ready to get this 'show on the road' and begin the recovery process. Me...I'm doing alright. Mostly relieved that he is in good hands. And eternally grateful for all the love and support coming our way.
DeleteSending a virtual hug to you and a belly rub and biscuit to MrDog. :)
