Duane's surgery went well. The doctors inserted one stent in one artery and two stents in another. He will remain in the hospital overnight.
His sister called earlier to let me know the surgery went well. Just a few minutes ago, Duane called me. He was still pretty groggy, but he managed to tell me about the surgery. It seems that one of his arteries was 90% blocked.
I am so grateful that they found it and fixed it. And I am so very grateful for your response to my call for prayer. This little online community has a way of taking care of one another that is astounding. Duane says "Thank you" for all the thoughts and prayers on his behalf. And may God richly bless each and every one of you.

Vicki, I sent a message to you earlier but forgot to sign off...I have been thinking of you and Duane this morning, and am now relieved to hear that his surgery went well. God tosses us some surprises now and then...just thankful he is always there for us when we call out to him. Prayers will continue for his recovery...CW
ReplyDeleteThanks so much, CW...You know what I find incredible? They discovered the problem with his heart when he was in the hospital after his stroke. Had not the first happened, he might not of known about the second until it was too late. God does work in mysterious ways!!
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear it went well. I'm sure you are all relieved. I'm sure he'll start feeling so much better now, too!
ReplyDeleteThank you, One Family. We are certainly relieved that that it is over and was successful! Now maybe he can work on getting his life back.
DeleteChecking in as well. Sending up prayers of thanksgiving that all went well and that everyone, patient and family, can rest well tonight.
ReplyDeleteBlessings, SJ
Thank you, my friend There have been prayers of thanks here today as well. It is a scary situation all around, especially on top of everything else. Perhaps a relatively normal life can be found now. :)
DeleteGod answers prayer, and He still heals today (just like everyday). Yay, God! So glad to hear that Duane is on the mend!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Rev. Paul...I have known for many years that God hears our prayers and answers them. And yet, when someone I love so deeply is the subject of those prayers, it fill me with wonder and awe when I see the results of those prayers. God is truly a wonderful God.
DeleteGlad for the good new, Vicki. Frank tried to go the stent route, but they couldn't do them, so he had to have a double bypass. It's great Duane could have the stents placed. I hope he recovers quickly and feels better everyday!
ReplyDeleteBlessings to you, Duane, and the rest of the family. Try to get some rest.
Fern
Thank you, Fern, for your kindness and concern...From what my other kid told me, it was a close call during the procedure as to whether they could get one of the stents in or whether they would have to go in to finish the task. Luckily and gratefully, they were able to stick with their Plan A. I have no doubt that he will soon feel much better.
DeleteHow is everything going today? Any updates?
DeleteHope you and Duane both rested well. I know you are looking forward to getting your hands on him again today.
Blessings,
Fern
Fern...Duane called me about a half hour ago. His brother will pick him up st the hospital around 1 pm and bring him home. He sounds much better today. There has been a strong suggestion that he cut back on the bacon. And butter. And salt. And,in his words, everything good!! As long as he can still have his coffee, I think he will be just fine. :)
DeleteThank you so much for your concern. It is deeply appreciated.
Glad to hear the surgery went well. As upsetting as his stroke was, it seems to have been a blessing in disguise. Without it, his heart problems would never been found.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Cathy...Duane and I were talking about that very thing. As frustrating as recovery from a stroke is for him, he would not have known about the heart problem if he hadn't been in the hospital because of the stroke. He was told it wasn't a matter 'if' he had a heart attack - it was a matter of 'when.' We owe a debt of gratitude to the doctors who found the problem an to those who fixed it. And mostly to God who indeed answered our prayers.
DeleteWow not good. Glad he is better. Sorry I missed your post did an all nighter in St Cloud, still trying to recover from lack of sleep.
ReplyDeleteRob...He is home and feeling better, thank God!
DeleteBlessings be upon you and yours, Vicki.
ReplyDeleteGOD IS GOOD!
Thank you, Pete...It is amazing to see up close and personal how God works his miracles.
DeleteStopping by to say Hi and say I still have you and Duane on my prayer list for today.
ReplyDeleteNot doing much today. It started snowing last night and has been steady off and on since. I have no desire to be out in it in my car. MrDog enjoyed a very short walk this morning and we'll go a bit longer before dinner.
Take good care, SJ
Hi SJ...Thank you for the thoughts and prayers. Duane's brother brought him home from the hospital Tuesday. He was moving a bit slowly but is better today. We are both settling back into our usual routines. I fried up a chicken Wednesday and we shared it for supper with enough left over for another meal so he didn't have to cook. Not exactly on his heart-friendly diet, but I figured it wouldn't hurt him just this once! He says he's not allowed anything good. :)
DeleteThe snow you are getting now is due to work its way east to us. Saturday and Sunday we should get another 6 inches of snow and maybe some freezing rain along with it. So glad for my deep pantry!!
I had a quiet day, too. A little crocheting and some digging through fabric scraps left from other quilt projects, trying for inspiration for a scrap quilt using them. Expect the rest of the week to be more of the same. After the drama of the last few weeks, it is nice to have quiet time. Give Mr. Dog a hearty petting for me. :)
