Going AWOL Again

This afternoon 25 lbs. of bacon landed on my kitchen table.  The next couple of days will be devoted to cutting the slices into 1-inch pieces, browning them and canning them up in half pint jars.  I am  really glad to have the bacon, but the process is time consuming.  So I will return when the job is finished.

Take good care and keep on prepping.  :)

  2. Time and energy spent now, will make things easier when you use bacon. And, you will have bacon when other people won't.

    1. Linda...I was delighted to get it even though I know what it takes to get it all canned. Well worth it, though.

  3. Vicki~ The fun we have making sure there is good food on the table. Just finished dehydrating 6 pounds of frozen white sweet corn, 5 pounds of organic green peas and 6 pounds of mixed vegetables. Started 6 more pounds of white sweet corn and 6 pounds of mixed vegetables. I'll be drying the broccoli outside per my Husband's request. Ground 11 pounds of beef into hamburger. Remember to stay hydrated and take breaks. Red

    1. Red...Wow! You really are packing in the dehydrated vegetables! I hope to do the same when the frozen ones go on sale here. I always have water and iced tea handy, and oldest son says he wil help me in the morning with the browning of the bacon bits before canning. It is time consuming, but so worth it!

    1. Ha! You're a poet, CW. :) The stay aware part has been articles about the Chinese Coronovirus that seems to be spreading. Not panicking, but closely watching. Take care.

  6. 25 pounds of bacon landing on your kitchen table seems to definitely rebut the age old statement, "When pigs fly."

Just thinking about it makes my mouth water.

    1. That's funny, John...I'm pretty sure my son was wishing that particular pig could fly as he lugged the box of bacon down a snow clogged alley to bring it to me. :) I consider myself extremely lucky to have a source to buy it in bulk. And yeah - I couldn't resist a bit of taste testing!
