This afternoon 25 lbs. of bacon landed on my kitchen table. The next couple of days will be devoted to cutting the slices into 1-inch pieces, browning them and canning them up in half pint jars. I am really glad to have the bacon, but the process is time consuming. So I will return when the job is finished.
Take good care and keep on prepping. :)

Be careful; we'll wait.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Gorges...Hope it won't take too long. :)
DeleteTime and energy spent now, will make things easier when you use bacon. And, you will have bacon when other people won't.
ReplyDeleteLinda...I was delighted to get it even though I know what it takes to get it all canned. Well worth it, though.
DeleteVicki~ The fun we have making sure there is good food on the table. Just finished dehydrating 6 pounds of frozen white sweet corn, 5 pounds of organic green peas and 6 pounds of mixed vegetables. Started 6 more pounds of white sweet corn and 6 pounds of mixed vegetables. I'll be drying the broccoli outside per my Husband's request. Ground 11 pounds of beef into hamburger. Remember to stay hydrated and take breaks. Red
ReplyDeleteRed...Wow! You really are packing in the dehydrated vegetables! I hope to do the same when the frozen ones go on sale here. I always have water and iced tea handy, and oldest son says he wil help me in the morning with the browning of the bacon bits before canning. It is time consuming, but so worth it!
DeleteStay aware and take care while you prepare...CW
ReplyDeleteHa! You're a poet, CW. :) The stay aware part has been articles about the Chinese Coronovirus that seems to be spreading. Not panicking, but closely watching. Take care.
Delete25 lbs?? Can you even find your table??? Why do I want a big BLT now..Im still here have not felt good. posting again soon
ReplyDeleteGrilled burger with Bacon, Pepper Jack Cheese, BBQ sauce and thin battered shoestring onions. Red
DeleteRob...I expect I might find my table sometime tomorrow. :) Sorry to hear you have been under the weather and hope you get to feeling better soon.
DeleteRed...Gee, that sounds good! I wish I had thought of it before I got the bacon all jarred up. :)
Delete25 pounds of bacon landing on your kitchen table seems to definitely rebut the age old statement, "When pigs fly."
ReplyDeleteJust thinking about it makes my mouth water.
That's funny, John...I'm pretty sure my son was wishing that particular pig could fly as he lugged the box of bacon down a snow clogged alley to bring it to me. :) I consider myself extremely lucky to have a source to buy it in bulk. And yeah - I couldn't resist a bit of taste testing!
DeleteBeans and Bacon... Yummy. Might want to stock up...Now. Red
