I have a morning routine. So do many of us. Mine includes coffee. I admit to being kind of cranky until I am well caffeinated. I have long suspected that my kids don't call me until I have had time to consume at least two cups. :)
While getting my caffeine intake up to acceptable levels, I generally turn on the computer and scan the news headlines. And this is where the lesson in how to lie and politicize begins.
I am old enough to remember when news reports actually contained real news. Today...not so much. Seems like mainstream media is incapable of honesty. Wouldn't recognize the truth if it bit them on the bum.
And have you noticed that it doesn't matter what happens in our world, it is the fault of the current administration? I am convinced that if the current president found the cure for cancer, the left leaning news outlets would spin that into something awful.
I'm not saying that our side never stretches the truth. It does. All too frequently. But anyone keeping score knows which way the news outlets lean.
What really chaps my hide is that those who believe themselves to be better than we are actually believe that we are so stupid that we believe everything we are told. Apparently, the recent election didn't teach them anything.
When my kids were young, there was a house rule. That was if they did something bad, there were consequences. If they lied to me about it, the consequences doubled.
Too bad that rule can't be applied to news outlets or to politicians.
Unlike family, those in the legacy media usually aren't punished, until they find they can't find employment. That requires refusing to watch their programs, including those that entertain. Revenue keeps them going, and the lack of revenue closes them down.
ReplyDeleteWith me, I even close any news report from the legacy media I find on the web. They can't be trusted and even if they happen to accurately report, I'll never trust them and feel nobody else should either. They had their chance, destroyed their credibility, and the best thing is for them to go away. They do more damage than any foreign enemy could imagine.
I am 100% with you on this, Jess...Got rid of my TV due to how irritated I got while watching what passes for news and with so much of the programming geared toward those with the IQ of a head of lettuce. I, too, refuse to pay attention to the legacy media. Actually, I find a few of the bloggers and YouTubers have a much better grasp on what is happening around us. Those I follow have reputations for honesty and have checked sources before reporting. I have included you among those for quite some time.
ReplyDeleteI like your last sentence best, Vicki.
ReplyDeleteBe safe and God bless.
LindaG...Perhaps we can hold them accoubntable by just ignoring their lies. :)
DeleteWelcome back Vicki!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Sarge...My son once told me that I couldn't quit the blog because if I didn't have a place to rant, my head might explode. Guess he was right. :)
DeleteThe punishment in my house was the same, both when I was a kid and as a parent. Do something wrong, and there was punishment. LIE about it, and the penalty was doubled.
ReplyDeleteIndeed, Vicki, Trump could walk on water, and the media would say "Look! He doesn't know how to SWIM!" As far as the lies of the media are concerned, it's pretty hard to lie to those of us who are LIVING the TRUTH. About all we can do is continue to prep, pray, and rest in the knowledge that we actually DO know better!
God bless you and yours!
Oh; and Spring is coming! Pancho the tortoise came up for air and sun yesterday!
I'm with you 100% on this one, Pete...Doesn't matter if Trump is doing good for the people, the Left will find a way to put him down. I am sick to death of the hypocrisy of it all.
ReplyDeleteYes...prep and pray. At this point I don't know what else to do. I find it sad that so many have been brainwashed into believing the lies of the Left. But me...I want the truth.
My money is on Poncho, predicting the arrival of Spring. Never believed that groundhog anyway!
God bless you and yours, my friend.
