Senior Class Pictures

Things sure have changed since I had my Senior Class pictures taken.  Back when I had mine taken, the photographer posed me against the wall of the cave, right next to the dinosaur, and snapped away.  The pictures were all pretty much the same varying only in which direction I was looking and whether or not I smiled.

Then my parents had to look at the proofs and figure out which pose they liked and how many of each size photo they needed for grandparents, aunts, uncles, friends, etc.  And in a couple weeks they received a large envelope full of pictures.

Last week my granddaughter had her Senior pictures taken.

There were several backgrounds, changes of clothes, poses, etc.

My daughter paid the photographer and received a thumb drive containing all of the photos.  She also gets the copyright so she can use them however she wants.  She can have prints made or print them herself.

These are a far cry from the class pictures of my youth.  Of course it helps when you have my beautiful granddaughter as the subject of the photos.

This post is for you, Nicki.  I love you with all of my heart.

Love, Grandma

  2. Oh god. Look at our SKIN!! We had tight and beautiful skin!! When my daughter had her photos taken, she had a change of clothes, and different poses, and as a parent with a tight budget, I had different portfolios to choose from with an eye to cost. I'm surprised they get a thumbdrive now. Do they print their own? Because I've been printing photos on my computer for 20 years, and they tend to darken through the years.

Isn't it amazing how times change, but that beautiful skin is only worshiped by us old folks - with good reason.

  3. Dana...These pictures I posted were just a sample. I'm not sure how many there are all together, but my daughter didn't have to pick and choose. The thumb drive contains all of them, and she can either have prints made or print them herself. She just paid for the photo session and thumb drive, which is way less than paying for a package deal where the photographer makes the prints. And even if prints do darken, she can always print more herself. I can't hardly wait to see the rest of those photos.

  6. She is beautiful, but beautiful or not, mothers love pictures and so do grandmothers! I do. Of course both my girls are/were beautiful and so are both my g-daughters.

I would have the pictures printed somewhere with a "4 pass subliminal printer." The colors stay true longer.

Computers, thumb drives, sd cards all make it easier to share with a grandmother.

  7. Practical Parsimony...I love family pictures as well. The digital cameras and phone cameras make it so much easier for my kids to share their photos with me. And that's a good thing.

  11. I had pictures like yours. All you got to choose was which pose (they all looked pretty much the same) and what sizes you wanted.

  12. Harry...I think our grad photos were pretty standard for the day. I really like the way they are done now. I wind up with some outstanding grandkid pictures, which keeps me smiling!
