I Am Tired...

I am tired of hearing about the Russians.

I am tired of listening to celebrities telling me how they think I should live while they are paid millions to pretend to be somebody else.

I am tired of all the reports of people being beaten to a bloody pulp for the crime of wearing a Trump cap.

I am tired of Congress spending so much time trying to get rid of Trump and so little time on doing what we elected them to do.

I am just plain tired of Black Lives Matter for dozens of reasons.

I am particularly tired of California Representative Maxine Waters and her ilk screaming impeachment at every turn.

And I am tired of news articles like the one that set me off on this rant today.  It seems that two black ministers are suing Coca Cola because they believe too many persons of color drink too many sodas that cause them to become obese.  It's because Coca Cola advertises their products, don't you see.

Let that sink in.

Seems to me that if you drink sodas and you are fat, one thing you could do is, oh I don't know, maybe stop drinking sodas?  Of course, that would require some personal responsibility.  Can't have that.  Being personally responsible means that you have to work on the problem yourself and stop blaming others for your actions.

I can't do anything about any of the above.  People are going to be mean and hateful no matter what I say.  And so far, I have found no way to fix Stupid.  I can't just stop checking the news reports because I think it is important to keep an eye on what is going on in the world.  That is part of the preparedness thing.

But I can spend far less time on the headlines and much more time doing what makes me and mine happy.  Sounds like a plan to me.

Kicking that well used soapbox back into the corner now.

  2. Suing because you eat and get fat? Let me see, I am a minority, too, so I can sue all chocolate makers, Coke, television stations and all forms of advertising that tempt me, my dead parents for bringing it to me in the first place. Wait! What do I get out of this? Money to buy more fast food and chocolate? Not one black person except the two ministers will benefit. They will get lots of press to promote their aspirations of being important which will line their pockets. This is a pretty good gig for them!

    1. Linda...I doubt the lawsuit will get very far. That same article mentioned that someone else had tried to sue Coca Cola along those same lines and the judge in that case had just thrown the whole thing out. What irritated me was the fact that those two ministers were trying to say that Coca Cola's advertising caused their parishioners to overindulge in sugary drinks. Well, Duh! Isn't that what advertising is for - to get folks to buy a company's product?

I once had a doctor who, when I asked him for a good weight loss diet, said, 'Don't eat so much.' If I am a chubby granny, which I am, it is nobody's fault but my own.

    2. maybe they are jockeying to fill the space left by a sharpton and j jackson? those 2 can't last forever.

    3. deborah...They can't last forever, but the part that worries me is just how much damage they can do before their time is up. Both of them are still stepping in to fan the flames of hate at every opportunity.

  3. The two ministers are also swearing, under oath, that "persons of color" are weak-minded & have no self-control nor common sense. If I were a litigious person, I'd sue the ministers for defamation of character.

    1. Oh, good grief, Rev. Paul...sometimes I am absolutely astounded at the things people come up with, especially if there is a lawsuit in the works and even a slight possibility of a cash settlement. I am thinking the name Dr. Ben Carson might just blow that argument out of the water.

    1. Yep Gorges, I do. I just get so very tired of the vast amount of foolishness around us, coming from adults that are acting like spoiled children. A good rant now and then is good for the soul. :)

  5. Totally agree with you, Vicki. I am soooo sick of these people, newscasters, Hollyweirds and pundits. Why in heck (but I really mean hell) can't people grow up and and start working together to bring this country back to where she belongs. That should be the goal of every American.
If the whiners hate it so much here: get out - Now!

    1. Chickenmom...Never in my lengthy lifetime have I seen such hatred combined with sheer stupidity. I remember a time when at a parade and our flag passed by, men stood, removed their hats and either placed a hand over their heart or saluted. Women and kids always had a hand over their heart. Now it seems all they want to do is burn our flag. Respect is a thing of the past.

We as a nation are going down fast and nobody on the left seems to care. It is all about them, about gaining attention, about making ridiculous demands. It is about causing as much trouble as possible. It is about shouting down anyone who holds differing opinions. It is about dividing us further.

We are a patient people, but I have to wonder just how much more we on the right and we who are white are going to take before we start fighting back. I fear it is already too late and that breaks my heart.

    2. Don't paint with such a broad brush. Not all of us on the left are what you think! I wholeheartedly disagree with most on the left over certain issues!

    3. Linda...I am fully aware that not everyone on one side or the other believes the same as everyone else. Everyone has their own opinion on issues unless they are just sheep, following along with the crowd. Each side has good ideas and each side has bad. I find it sad that we can't seem to come together to work out our differences, but would rather waste time like children, standing on opposite sides of the schoolyard, taunting one another. We as Americans are so much better than that.

    4. Vicki,
There are times my liberal friends think I am not liberal enough. It is so tiring to talk about some things with them.

    5. Linda...I mostly try to avoid talking politics with those who get upset when my views differ from theirs. Some are able to carry on a reasonable conversation and others aren't. I am too old and too tired to waste time debating with those who are rabid about politics on either side of the fence. We can disagree but when the yelling starts, I'm gone. :)

  6. Right there with you. Seems like the expression "let's agree to disagree" has gone by the way side.
Don't kick that soap box too far away. SJ

    1. SJ...You are right. It is tough to reason with someone who will drown out any opinions except their own. Think of what we as a nation accomplished when we still could have a reasonable exchange of ideas. Sigh.

I will keep the soapbox within arm's length. I have to drag it out once in awhile or my head is in danger of exploding. :)

  7. People lack discipline and don't understand that this is reap and sow universe. You don't plant corn and expect wheat! Just another excuse for people to NOT take responsibility for themselves.

    1. When did we become a nation of irresponsible children, K. The past few years I can count on the fingers of one hand the hearing of somebody in politics or in the public eye saying, 'That was my fault.' Generations back we never heard excuses. My parents and grandparents just did the right thing. It was a matter of pride and a matter of honor. Not now. You would think those who blame everyone but themselves would have run out of excuses by now.

  9. Vicki, your posting is right in line with what many of us think. I find that just knowing there are other people in our country who still have common sense and apply it in their daily lives is comforting. It helps me stay focused on my efforts of preparedness. Thank you!

My garden is producing an abundance of fresh broccoli, cabbage, peppers, tomatoes, kohlrabi, and green beans despite the fact that we are quite dry in this area. Lunches and suppers are so easy to prepare with my backyard market...wish I could share with you.

    1. CW...It sure does help to know that at least part of our country hasn't gone completely crazy. I wonder what it is going to take before we fight back. I was all done with the foolishness about the time it became OK for protesters to block freeways, or when college students were given a free pass to participate in riots or even when those folks marched carrying signs saying, 'Not My President.' I have to believe that at some point we will take a stand and say, 'Enough.'

Oh, CW...your garden sounds wonderful! I'm glad the heat hasn't bothered it too much. That is the best part of having a garden - to be able to go out and harvest part of your supper. I have been thinking that when the plants in my little windowsill garden are finished, I might just plant some lettuce, spinach and other greens. Maybe even a few beets. I love beet greens cooked in butter.

    1. Jenn...I know I can't ignore the headlines for I need to be aware of what is happening in the world around me, but I do not need to dwell on them. It has been hot and humid here. Heat and humidity wipe me out, so the weekend was spent sewing little pieces of fabric to other little pieces of fabric. My kind of heaven. :)
