This is Boston on her way to dance auditions to see which team she will be on this year at the dance studio where she is in competition dancing.
This is Maddie Mae just being Maddie Mae.
This is Jacob at the end of the summer baseball season, with his other grandparents. I'm so glad they can go to his games to cheer him on.
And this is Oreo with her favorite squeaky toy. She is just so stinkin' cute!
David's sister Jill posted this photo of my grandson Zach at Aviation Camp in July.
I love it when my kids post pictures. It helps me stay connected to family and that's important. So thank you David, for indulging your mother and going back on FB long enough to give me more pictures. And thank you Jill, for all the pictures of Zach.
Love, Mom
I made the conscious decision to quit Facebook too. It seems the "most tolerant" only tolerate certain opinions. Anything not praising the likes of Bernie Sanders and "black lives matter" receive "flaming arrow" and "brick through the window" harassment. I found myself arguing with complete strangers with room-temperature IQ's. It wasn't worth it...
ReplyDeleteI haven't quite FB just yet. Was off for over a year, and then went back with a MUCH smaller list of "friends" - restricted to people I actually know. Then they convinced me to take up blogging again, too.
DeletePete...I have never gotten into discussions on FB. I use it mostly so I can snag the pictures that my family post. And I keep in touch with cousins, some of whom will occasionally post photos of ancestors. That's pretty cool. I do use the messaging sometimes with my kids and with an old school friend who is a retired cop and who keep me informed on what is going on. I have no patience for arguing politics and those who insist on being rude and crude have been 'unfriended.' Keeps life simple. :)
DeleteNice lookin' family ya got there. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks, Rev. Paul...They are my heart.
DeleteI have been tempted to quit FB as well, but remain for the reasons I told Pete above. Like you, I have limited 'friends' to those I know. I may rant once in a while on this blog, but I just have neither the time nor the patience to deal with those who just live to pick a fight. Life is just too short for that kind of foolishness. :)
Nice photos of the grands. My dad dropped FB several years ago. I got so fed up with everything, I dropped Fox News feed, on FB, and Trumps too. I don't watch local news any more, and very rarely watch Fox News Channel. In fact I stopped watching the evening national news too.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Rob...I still check the news but stay away from main stream media. The hate and viciousness out there is appalling. I think we need to know what is going on in the world, but I just don't dwell on it any more.
DeleteLOL - I'm not trashing Trump, but I'm still trashing Hillary and Obama! Glad you got some pictures. We never get any anymore but then we have a strange family.
ReplyDeleteGorges...It isn't so much the trashing of politicians, for they all deserve to be trashed. It is the hatred and meanness that I try to stay away from. America seems to have lost it's collective mind!
DeleteI have fb but rarely go there. I rarely comment on anything, even if I agree. It is not worth my time. I am not sure why I have it. He could have only family as friends or only you so you could get the pictures.
ReplyDeleteMy son says he is happier when he stays away from fb. If he just uses it to post pictures, that's ok.
DeleteThanks for the reminder. I need to post more photos of the kids who still live at home.
ReplyDeleteKristina...There are many things I dislike about FB, but when it comes to sharing family photos, it is the easiest way I have found to do so.
DeleteHe could set up a blog where you can only access it by signing in. He could post photos there for you and give you access. Or he could email you photos.
ReplyDeleteThose are good suggestions, BW. He has emailed me pictures before, but I think I would like it if he would continue with posting pictures on FB. They are so easy for me to download and his aunts, uncles and cousins enjoy the pictures nearly as much as I do. I hope I can convince him that he doesn't have to read others posts - just post pictures. :)
DeleteYou should be a proud grammie. I guess I've been reading here a while because my reaction was 'oh, my, look how they've grown'. Also love those ribbons in Oreo's hair --too cute. Having a quiet day here - am going to run to the store for a few groceries since I don't like shopping on the weekend. Then a mystery is calling my name. Have I mentioned the Cat Who....series by Lilian Jackson Braun. I'm working my way through the books.
ReplyDeleteTake care & I'll stop back in on Monday ....SJ
SJ...I confess to being a proud gran. My kids have done an amazing job of raising their kids. No 'special snowflakes' there, thank God! The kids have grown - both girls are taller than me now and Jacob isn't all that far behind. They are so much fun to be with.
DeleteOreo usually doesn't have hair bows, but she had just been to the groomer for the first time. David posted a short video of her jumping up next to him on the couch and then winking at him a couple of times.
I am taking the weekend off as well. Duane will be here in about an hour to change the bandages on my legs. Once that ordeal is over I believe I will follow suit and find a good mystery to occupy me. I canned up 20 pints and 20 quarts of cranberries and that sort of did me in. Turning all those berries into juice was a bit more than I could handle, but canned whole I can use them for whatever I want.
I remember you mentioned the 'Cat' series of books. They sounded interesting - something I might enjoy. Getting out to a bookstore is not in the cards and I don't have a credit card. But I have been thinking about getting one of those prepaid cards to order some things I am needing. A few books are on that list and I think I included the first in that series. If I like it, I can always order the rest.
Enjoy your weekend. I plan to enjoy a quiet one here in my little corner of the world. :)
Great family photos Vicki! I think I'd quit Facebook too if it weren't for the family connections and the photo groups I am in.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Jenn. The grands are so much fun!
DeleteLike you, it is the family connections that keep me on FB. They don't seem to email much any more. They mostly text and I don't have a cell phone, so FB is the best way to stay in touch. That and the family photos, which are really important to me.
Mom, I'll use FB to put up photos, and that's about it. Keeping the drama out of my life is a good thing for me, besides, I get enough drama from the two teenage daughters. I'm sure you remember those days...boys, sharing clothes and the smell of hairspray every morning.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy the photos, I'll keep them coming.
Love, David
Thank you, Son...I so dearly love the photos of my kids and grands. I truly appreciate it. I completely understand about keeping the drama to a minimum. And yes, I remember the drama of two teenage daughters. But cheer up. Sooner or later they will be on their own, paying their own rent, dealing with their own drama. And you and Staci will wonder what happened and where did the time go and why is the house so quiet. :)
