The outside temp is 48 degrees this morning, with the promise of near 70 by this afternoon. I am so looking forward to opening windows to the warm spring breezes. The 18 inches of snow that fell last week is gone with the exception of a couple of small piles left from the snow plows.
Life is truly good.

Good morning. We had a very light frost last night. A little late for this time of year. We, too, are supposed to reach 70o a few days this week.
ReplyDeleteYesterday, my food bank group planted peas, spinach, brocolli raab and lettuce. We've left room for kale and some warmer temp veggies like tomatoes and cucumber. I put a 6-pack of beets in my plot. What a deal - the 6-pack had about 20 plants in it! I,too, love the beet tops cooked up as greens.
You'll have to let me know how you like the asparagus. Play with the time a bit. I like it with a little crunch so 1-minute in the micro works great for me. Your mileage might vary!!
Off to walk the dog. Hope you have a great day. SJ
SJ...It was a lovely day today. The temp didn't reach 70, but it was close enough to open some windows for a little while. Sounds like you have a good start on the planting. Score on the beets! I think I like the beet greens better than other greens. I may order beets on my next grocery order. If I am lucky, they might still have their leaves.
DeleteI will try the asparagus probably Friday. Duane usually brings me some supper on grocery delivery day.
Hope your day was a good one.
It will get here eventually, Vicki. How long it will stay before summer clobbers it is anyone's guess, though. (Ain't I a bundle of joy?)
ReplyDeleteGorges...After all the cold and ice and snow we have had here, I think I am about ready for summer to clobber us!!
DeleteWe are currently 11C/52F but windy. They are predicting 21C/70F later this week...I can't wait!!!
ReplyDeleteJenn...I'm just happy to look out my window and not see snow! At this point I will settle for anything above freezing. :)
DeleteToday, it was down in high 60s with temps going up every day until it reaches 81 next Monday. Of course, I am in the South. I hope you get to open your windows soon.
ReplyDeleteLinda...I finally got to open my windows for a little while this afternoon, before it started cooling off. It is a start and I am loving every minute of warmer temps.
DeleteThe last snow was two weeks ago, but we can't lose sight that time will fly like a sneeze and winter will be back again. The big question is how HOT will it get, and how thick will the bugs be??
ReplyDeleteRob...The cold winters and the hot, humid summers give us Minnesotans something to complain about. Don't know about yourds, but my family has gotten really good at weather complaining. :)
Deletewe had an unusual frost yesterday....usually our last frost is the 15th... crazy weather!!
ReplyDeleteWe are still having some frosty nights, but the lovely days full of sunshine make up for it.
