Another Milestone

I got a phone call the other day.  It seems that my youngest granddaughter had passed the test for her driving permit.  My son had posted this picture on Facebook.

"Way to go, Maddie Mae!  She passed her permit test today and is already asking for the keys."

David, Maddie Mae and grandson Jacob were in the car on their way to Jacob's Little League ballgame right after she took the test.  They had waited in line for 2 1/2 hours!  David said he wasn't sure it was worth the wait.  Maddie declared it was well worth it.

I asked Maddie if she was behind the wheel.  In the background I heard her Dad say, "I'm not ready to turn her loose on the freeway just yet!"  He should be conditioned to it - he now has two daughters of driving age.  :)

My brother saw the picture and left a comment:  "Congratulations, Maddie Mae!  (I am keeping you in my prayers, Davey.)"

Congratulations, Maddie Mae.  You said you weren't sure you could pass the test, but I knew you would.  And if your Dad won't let you drive once in a while, you just give me a call.  I have ways of getting my son to listen to reason.

Love, Grandma

  1. New drivers have looked like little kids to me for years. Now, even the COPS look like little kids to me. It couldn't be that I'm getting old! - lol

    1. Where has the time gone? We're pretty proud of our girl, even if she is growing up too fast to suit me. :)

  3. Thank you grandma! I drove for the first time today. I was nervous at the start, but all ended well. I am excited to continue driving, and hopefully get my license. Love-Maddie

    1. You're welcome, Maddie Mae...You will do just fine. Listen to your Dad - he is a good driver. And I know you will ace your driver's license test! And then I'm thinking your Mom and Dad might just let you drive down here to see me. :) Love you a bunch!

  4. A congratulations to Maddie Mae. One thing I would recommend is Maddie Mae take some auto shop classes(with all the onboard computers in addition to the mechanical systems). Also have someone in the family walk her through and practice "How to ..." on a car or truck. My Dad taught me to change oil, filters, tires and even remove and replace my water pump and radiator in my car. This will help keep her from getting ripped off by people that will think she lacks knowledge and hands on experience. Red

    1. Excellent suggestions, Red...I'm pretty sure her Dad will teach her many of those things before she is ready to set out on her own. He is really good at all things mechanical.

    1. What my youngest son has going for him is that he has raised his daughters to be responsible people. Grandma has a hard time admitting those girls are old enough to drive. :)
