Wise Words

This weekend I am busy with odds and ends of Suzy Homemaker type stuff.  All of those little things that, when they beg to be done, you respond by putting them of until tomorrow.  Well, tomorrow has arrived.

So in lieu of an actual post, I give you the following.  I may have posted this earlier.  Can't remember.  But if I did, it is worth repeating.

"The Wisdom of Tecumseh"

"So live your life so the fear of death can never enter your heart. Trouble no one about their religion; respect others in their views, and demand that they respect yours. Love your life, perfect your life, beautify all things in your life. Seek to make your life long and of service to your people. Always give a word or sign of salute when meeting or passing a stranger if in a lonely place. Show respect to all people, but grovel to none. When you arise in the morning, give thanks for the light, for your life and strength. Give thanks for your food and for the joy of living. If you see no reason for giving thanks, the fault lies in yourself. Touch not the poisonous firewater that makes wise ones turn to fools and robs them of their visions. Prepare a noble death song for the day when you go over the great divide. When your time comes to die, be not like those whose hearts are filled with fear of death, so that when their time comes they weep and pray for a little more time to live their lives over again in a different way. Sing your death song, and die like a hero going home."
- Tecumseh

Hope your weekend is just what you want it to be.

  2. Tecumseh covered ALL bases! I loved reading it again. My "job to do" is the ironing again. So the job I did was to find a new place to hide it.

  3. Dani...You're welcome. I'm not the Suzy Homemaker type, but after a while all those little tasks amount to one large one. lol

  4. Dana...I've had that Tecumseh quote for quite a while. Sort of appealed to me.

I like your solution to ironing. That job rates right up there with cleaning the cat litter box!! Trouble is, I've got to clean out the old hiding places in order to hide some more. Vicious circle. :)

  5. Things here are ok. Just a quiet weekend with no big projects. Sounds like you are doing ok too, that's good.

  6. Harry...Glad you're doing OK.. Just piddly things here this weekend. Rearranging canning shelves and pantry to make better use of space, some other organizing, etc. Small living spaces need organization and I have been sort of lazy about it. Hope to do some more canning soon, so it had to be done.

  7. Mary...We could use a few more wise words these days. Or at least more who would take heed of the wise words already spoken.

  8. We spend so much time planning to do this that and everything else we forget what the plan was LOL. Yard work today or maybe tomorrow. I feel a nap coming on. LOL.

  9. Rob...And even if we remember the plan, something is sure to come along and throw a monkey wrench into the works. (grin)
