Jim...It was cool and overcast here today, but without the rain. Just one of those days where I couldn't get going, so I didn't! Some call it lazy. I prefer to call it taking advantage of retirement. :)
Good for you. Sometimes focusing on anything, especially the "simpler" things is best. One can only take so much of the craziness of the current world we live in.
Matt...I do my best to stay informed about what is going on in the world around me. But sometimes I just need to back away from the insanity (it is completely insane, isn't it) and just enjoy my very simplified life. Yesterday was one of those days. And today is showing signs of being more of the same. (grin)
Rob...I'm taking another, shall we call it a "mental health" day today. It is telling for me that I feel the need to take two days instead of the usual one. I think things are swirling down the drain faster now. And I feel as though I need to gather all my strength as it shows no promise of any light at the end of the tunnel.
Rob...I have always said that I would rather know the truth, good or bad, because then I could deal with it. But once in a very great while I wish I were as oblivious as so many are. Of course I know that in time I will be thankful that I knew enough to prepare for whatever comes.
Sounds like a heavenly day to me! It is still warm enough here to be out on the patio with a cool drink, but cooler days are just around the corner. I won't bake cookies as I will eat EVERY ONE of them!!
I so agree with maybe taking a break from this ole crazy world! But I don't want to be an ostrich, either. So I listen to the news in the a.m. to see if the world blew up and then listen again in the evening for any new developments. I know some that have it on all day long and get so stressed out.
CottonLady...Yesterday was such a lovely day that I took another today! So now I'm ready to get back to my normal routine.
I'm the same way with cookies. Or anything sweet. I've gotten so that I'll set aside one day for baking. After the bread is set to rising, I'll stir up two or three kinds of cookie dough and then portion it out into freezer bags so each bag contains enough dough for one cookie sheet. That way I don't have all of those already baked chocolate chip cookies calling my name!!
I do pretty much what you do as far as the news goes. I'm an early riser, so I check my news sources on my computer along with my first cup of coffee in the morning and look at them again after supper. If I had a steady diet of news, as bad as it is, I'd want to go back to bed, pull the covers over my head and just stay there. The rest of the time I'll either listen to music or audio books. That's probably what keeps me relatively sane.
David...Yep. When your kids all grow up and are paying their own rent, then you will have time. And I'm pretty sure you will then wish they were all home again! But it was a really nice couple of days. Love, Mom
Mom of four, Grandma of six, and Great Grandma of two, who writes about events both past and present, about preparedness and an occasional rant tossed in for good measure, as well as anything else that happens to come to mind, and who enjoys my retired life in general.
It was cold and rainy here in Southern Idaho all day. Unfortunately, I had to go to work. I would have much rather followed your list.

Some day...Some day I will get to enjoy a day like yours.
ReplyDeleteI'm so happy you are able to spend days like today.
