Worrisome

So last week the cleaning lady didn't show up.

Now I know what that sounds like.  I have heard those well-to-do, every hair in place, designer jeans types complain about the 'help.'  But for me, having someone do the heavier cleaning isn't a luxury.  It is a necessity.

The last time she was here she didn't seem to be her usual cheery self.  I asked if she was ok and she replied that she hadn't taken her medication that day.  She told me she has anxiety attacks.  We sat and talked about that for a time.  She seemed better when she left.

She missed work one other time.  But then she called, all apologetic, telling me she had overslept.  I just laughed, told her not to worry about it.  She just came here the following day.

She hasn't called.  Her day to work for me is Thursday.  I believe in giving folks the benefit of the doubt, so I haven't called the company she works for.  I hope she shows up tomorrow.  I hope she is alright.

    1. Me, too, Kristina. It isn't like her to just not show up.

  2. I prayed that the Lord would help her deal with any problems that she was having, either medical or emotional.

  3. Just my two cents but perhaps you should tell the company and let them do a 'safety check' on her. One of my big concerns living alone is 'what if' something happens to me and no one notices I'm missing. I hope she's ok and is able to be there tomorrow.
    Cheers, SJ

    1. SJ...If she doesn't show up to clean my apartment, it is not an earth-shattering event. However, she has another client who is wheelchair bound. She goes there each morning to get that person up and ready for the day and goes again later to reverse the process. If she failed to show up there, I am sure someone would have called within an hour or so. She also has children who keep tabs on her like mine do. If not for those things, I would have called last week. I am waiting because if she is having problems, I would rather see her work through them. I don't want to be the dissatisfied client who causes her to lose her job.
