Mother Nature...

is a bit cranky.  Last week it was warm enough to turn on the air conditioning.  By Friday this week it looks like I will need it again.

But today at 12:19 pm, the temperature is 56 degrees and it is raining.  I have the heat cranked.

So my green fuzzy blanket and I are spending quality time in my recliner.  There is some hand sewing and some crocheting and some reading to keep me occupied.  And naps.  Don't forget naps.

Mother Nature, please make up your mind.  Is it still summer or has fall arrived.  Inquiring minds want to know.

  1. Sounds like our weather! I reluctantly turned on the heat at night last week. Naps are very important, 2-3 per day I hear is about right.

    1. Jenn...You are right about the nap. I can say that because napping pretty much describes my day. :)

  2. Fall has arrived here for sure. Yesterday was our first 'fall storm' according to the forecasters. Fortunately the predicted winds did not arrive. It's always dicey when we have a wind storm and the trees still have all their leaves. More rain today and tomorrow. Temps in the 60s during the day. Have yet to turn on the heat but it won't be long. I'm enjoying the sweet spot of not needing heat or AC. Also enjoying the break from my gardening.
Enjoy your cozy green blanket. Sounds like great napping weather.
    Cheers, SJ

    1. SJ...I thought for sure fall had arrived until I looked at the local forecast that tells me we will likely hit 90 degrees by the end of the week. My apartment isn't cold, but this morning before I turned on the heat, I got chilled and couldn't shake it all day. Spent some time wrapped in the green fuzzy blanket, napping and reading, and some time wrapped in an afghan, sitting at my computer working on my genealogy program. I hope Mother Nature makes up her mind soon about what season we are in. This cold, hot, cold messes with the arthritis. I don't dare complain, however, as my older daughter had a partial knee replacement surgery today. At least I have not reached the place where I need new parts!

Truth be told, it was kind of nice to be a lazy bum today. Tomorrow is another day and I am guessing that things can be accomplished then. That's one of the perks of retirement. We can have a quiet day when the need arises.

  3. Sometimes, fall can be as fickle as spring.

    1. You are right, Gorges. One day fall is in the air and the next, summer is still hanging on. Here in Minnesota we will soon be up to our bums in snow and there will be no doubt about the season. :)

  4. This weekend reminded me of after hurricane Rita. The humidity was high, night temperatures were in the upper seventies, and the afternoon temps were in the nineties.

Still, I had a hankering for homemade vegetable beef soup, so I made big pot, and enjoyed the meal. Maybe it will hurry some cooler weather.

    1. Jess...You can't go wrong with a pot of homemade vegetable soup, no matter what the season. I haven't made any for a while. May need to dig out the crock pot and get some going in the morning. Our weather here has been strange - warm and cool and warm again. But homemade soup makes everything better. :)

  5. I napped lots for a week and wondered why. Well, why I almost fainted in Cracker Barrel, and I went to the doctor, I had a uti. I have cut the naps back to two a day now that I feel better.

    I do love a nap!

    1. I used to tease my Dad about his afternoon naps. Then I realized the man was on to something. Now I really like me an afternoon nap!

  6. Our air is back on, and has since last Friday - high 80's again here. Rain arrived, so I hope we cool down enough to clean the garden and open windows.

  7. We've been having nice weather down here. I do run the ac but we don't really need it like we do in mid summer. Great weather for the wife and I to go out walking.
