When you lead a quiet life...

sometimes you have to dig deep to find something to write about.  I suppose I could go on another rant, but the topics to choose from are so numerous that I really wouldn't know where to begin.

~I can't seem to wrap my mind around the fact there are women who are fighting for the right to kill their babies.  Granted, pregnancies from rape and incest are horrible, but there are thousands of couples who desperately want to adopt children.  And for the rest of you women, you might not have an unwanted pregnancy if you had kept your knees firmly together.

-To Representative Jerry Nadler:  You might want to find another hobby.  This 'Get Trump' thing is getting old.  There was no collusion.  There was no obstruction.  All the subpoenas or Contempt of Congress charges in the world are not going to change that.  How about concentrating on legislating for those who voted for you.  For a change.

~Securing our borders is not racist.  Securing our borders is common sense.  I don't lock my door because of racism.  I lock my door so that strangers don't walk in, use my shower, raid my refrigerator or sleep in my bed.  I lock my door so some low-life criminal doesn't walk in to steal what little I have and likely beat me to a pulp in the process.  I lock my door so I have control of who enters.  I lock my door to stay as safe as possible in my home.  There is no reason for our borders to be any different.

~Second Amendment:  "A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed."
infringe (from Merriam-Webster): "to encroach upon in a way that violates law or the rights of another."
So someone needs to explain to me why there are so many restrictions on gun ownership.  Nowhere in the second amendment does it say 'except for scary looking black rifles' or 'permits required' or 'guns must be kept securely locked up.'  Seems to me both State and Federal governments are infringing like crazy, and threatening to do more of the same.

~Why are the criminal acts of some 'refugees' overlooked by the press.  Just a few nights ago, a group of Somali teens, armed with pipes and hammers, attacked citizens at a Light Rail station in Minneapolis, and yet no local news agency reported this attack.  According to those who monitor police scanners, the group of thugs were after affluent white train passengers with the object being to beat and rob them.  Several victims were taken to hospitals with serious injuries.  And our local news reports?  Crickets.

Back to my quiet little life.  We have some weather moving our way that should show up this evening in the form of wind and rain.  I am off to finish washing up the dirty dishes from yesterday and to get some laundry done.  And check my lists to see what I need to do next for my preps.  If one of the crazies on the Left gets elected in 2020, I think we are going to need all the help we can get.

  1. Vicki, you are much too logical and common-sensed for this crazy world we have come to live in these days.

Your weather is almost as delightful as ours. We are expecting a high of 50 with winds of 40 to 45 mph AND more rain. I will try not to complain since many have lost their homes due to tornadoes or have had to flee due to flooding in the states south of us. Our garden will get planted at some point.

As my son left our house yesterday morning, I jokingly said, "Maybe you could do some foraging for some food today...foraging being the vocabulary word for the day." He laughed and said he would do his best. O.K., well, I was a little overwhelmed when he stopped back later in the evening with about 18 pounds of rhubarb and almost 9 pounds of asparagus. Guess what I am doing today? This morning, I made and froze several rhubarb crisp desserts, and I will try to can some pickled asparagus this afternoon. It takes me longer to get things done these days, but it sure will be nice to have it all stored away for our use later.

Vicki, we are so blessed to be able to live in our nice quiet homes. Take care and prepare, CW

    1. CW...Logic and common sense seem to be at a premium these days. So many of our politicians seem to have their heads planted firmly up their backsides and have no earthly idea how the rest of us live. You know - the ones who pay their salaries!!

Yep...the weather here this evening is a pure joy. Rain and wind. Looks like it isn't going to end any time soon, judging by the radar on the Weather Channel. But you are right. I am thankful this is all we are getting when so many have had devastating storms.

Wow!! I'd say your son learned the meaning of the word foraging, all right. How nice to have the rhubarb crisp desserts all ready to go in the freezer. I have never tried pickled asparagus. My family always either canned asparagus or froze it as a vegetable, but pickled sounds really good. I think I would be tempted to send that boy out to forage more often, :)

Yes, it does takes us longer to get things done these days, but thank God we are still able to accomplish what we do. Every day is a gift and every time we are able to do what we need to do it is a bonus.

I agree about being blessed to live in our quiet homes. I may not live the most exciting life on the planet, but I am not in the middle of the drama and turmoil that many live with, and for that I thank God every day. :)

  2. Vicki, I think there needs to be a question asked of a woman seeking to terminate the child in her womb. If this is the only child you will ever conceive, do you want to continue? Plus you will never be able to adopt.

The law has Tobacco and Alcohol usage age at 21.
Maybe we need to have the age of consent reset to 21 also. If not, maybe change the rules that if the female in under 18, her family will be required to pay for every expense of the forthcoming child. No welfare. How fast would under aged Mothers become a thing of the past.

I know the Founders knew that one day there would be some Royalists poke their heads up demanding Gun Control for Safety sake. The reason for the Second Amendment is it protects all the others and that the Second was because We The People can't Trust the Elected and Government to behave.

    1. Red...Good ideas. There needs to be consequences for actions. Making people pay the expenses involved with having a child is one of them, rather than the current welfare system that rewards unwed mothers monetarily for each child they produce. A good dose of the moral behavior that many of us grew up with wouldn't hurt, either.

I sometimes think that younger people just don't think beyond the end of their noses now. It sort of reminds me of the 1960's mantra of 'if it feels good - do it.' Nobody talked about consequences then, either. They seem to think that everything should be handed to them and there will always be someone else to foot the bill. And if they are 'inconvenienced' with an unwanted pregnancy, all they need do is just get rid of it. Never mind that they are snuffing out a life that may have grown up to have a profound impact on society. Or even just grow up to live out a happy life. So sad, this mindset.

You are right about not trusting the government to behave. I believe there are few in Congress who actually care about those who voted for them. Most care about wealth and power. I don't trust them any farther than I can throw them.

  4. Vicki, again I am struck by the fact that you rarely set foot outside your apartment yet you are so in touch with what goes on in the outside world. I agree with you on each of these issues and have the same concerns. When did our world become so upside down?

I do worry about the 2020 election. It is going to be bad regardless of which side wins. If the dems are defeated, losing the 2016 election will be child's play compared to losing the upcoming one. Even so, I'd rather deal with it rather than have them in office where there is no stopping whatever they choose to do - laws (constitution) be damned.

    Wake up USA! BJ

    1. BJ...Because I am retired and mostly housebound, I guess I have the time to keep up on what is going on in our world. I don't own a TV, so I don't know what the main stream media is putting out there for propaganda, but I do follow several news sources online. I also have an old classmate who is a retired cop and has access to the 'good old boy cop network,' and he keeps me informed about the more local happenings that the media reuses to report.

I don't really know when our world became collectively insane. I believe Obama did an excellent job of dividing us along racial lines, but I think it started long before that. I do believe the 'Trump Derangement Syndrome' has accelerated the hate and discontent at breakneck speed. We used to be a nation of people who cared for one another, who loved our flag and country and God and who basically worked together. Now patriotism and Christianity seem to be criminal.

I worry about the 2020 election, too. If Trump wins again, the hateful behavior of the dems that we have already seen will be child's play compared to what may happen then. And like you, I think that if the left wins the white house and congress, it is all over except for the crying. I believe that they could sink our country so fast that we will all need every one of our preps and God help those who still think everything is just fine.

There are some of us who are awake and realize what is happening, but sadly, most are not.

  5. We could spend days, weeks, months maybe even years trying to come up with the answers to these questions. I for one think the people who will vote Trump back into office have decided already. I have. We the people won't forget the crap being pulled by the left since the last election. Power will shift back to the GOP, only if they all get on the same page of the same chapter, of the same book.

    1. I hope you are right, Rob. I really shudder to think of what our world could be like if Trump doesn't get another term. I have never in my lifetime seen such insanity on such a huge scale. Scares the heck out of me to think these people could actually be in charge. God help us all.

    3. Red...And it has been downhill from there. We are on a very slippery slope now and I believe we are fast approaching the bottom of it. Quite frankly, I doubt if we can stop it. Losing the freedoms I have left scares the bejesus out of me.
