I need a break. I don't watch TV but get my news from several Internet sources. This doesn't insulate me from all the negative political ads and all the other political nonsense floating around these days. I am sick to death of it all.
Some lunatic sends bombs, real or fake, to Dems, it is Trump's fault.
Trump wants to stop an invasion from the south, he is an unfeeling monster.
When our President puts Americans first, the left loses its mind.
I swear to God, if a Democrat gets a hangnail, Trump will be blamed.
I think the proverbial straw was when I read that because I enjoy a glass of milk with my chocolate chip cookies, I most definitely am a racist. See the column by Patrice Lewis on WND.
I have several projects going, the most important of which is working on the afghans for my grands. There is bread to bake and quilt tops to finish sewing and some canning and dehydrating to do. I have found several audio books on YouTube that I will listen to while working. I have set up Pandora to play selections of country and bluegrass music.
The politicians can continue to chew each other up and spit each other out, but they will do it without me watching them do it.
I'm done.
So right now I m off to my kitchen to wash a few dishes and stir up a cherry cheesecake dessert. I'll see you all right after the midterm elections.

Please just take a break. But make sure to come back --- I'd really miss you if the time off was permanent.
ReplyDeleteAnd what you wrote is why I've been having my head in the sand the last 6 months and refusing to watch the "news".
On the bright side, I saw a great movie this week that I borrowed from the library. It's the story of the Christian band MercyMe. The movie is called "I can only imagine".
Sending hugs,
SJ
Thanks, SJ...I promise. I'll be back after our midterms are over with. I just need to stay away from the computer for a while. Usually I am kind of a news junkie, but all I hear these days is one party telling lies about the other and around and around they go. I check my email and check here to see if anyone has left a comment because I appreciate those who do and always want to answer. But I really need a break from the rest - for now. :)
DeleteI can sympathize with your thoughts!
ReplyDeleteHappy break time!! See ya in couple weeks! Hugs
By the by...you could be a dear and send some goodies my way!! :)
Thanks, Mary...I have just had enough political bs for a while.
DeleteAbout sending goodies - I will tell you about my Dad. He could make the best apple pie you ever sunk a tooth into. He lived 300 miles away, so I called him at least once a week. Sometimes he would tell me he had an apple pie cooling on his kitchen counter. I would tell him that he could feel free to send me some. He would reply that he tried, but the slice of pie just wouldn't fit in the envelope. :)
That was a running joke between us for years!
See you when you get back.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Kristina. Sometimes a short break is just necessary to keep one's head from exploding. :)
DeleteLOL - Enjoy your break!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Gorges...I am already. :)
DeleteAmen sister. Check my latest post I found family and I am very happy. Don't over do it
ReplyDeleteRob...I promise not to get too carried away. Will check your blog later this evening, but am glad the family search went well.
DeleteVicki, the blame game is completely out of control these days! I don't blame you one tiny bit for taking your "news break." I should probably do the same and use the time more wisely spent praying that our great country survives the lying, cheating, and wickedness at work. I am certainly heartsick for those families in Pittsburg who lost loved one's due to a depraved person's actions. I hope you will return with a fresh and hopeful outlook cuz we enjoy hearing from you. Also, your Grandson, Zach, is doing so well!
ReplyDeleteCW...I just am so tired of it all. I doubt that most politicians would recognize truth. I like your idea of time spent in prayer, for I believe God is our only hope for an end to the evil that seems to be taking over. I did see the headlines about the horror in Pittsburg and am praying for those poor families who lost so much to a lunatic. I think staying away from my computer as far as what passes for news is concerned will do much to improve my attitude. :)
DeleteThanks for mentioning Zach. He is such a good kid and he makes us so very proud.
Face it, Vicki, If the Left doesn't like you, it will make whatever you are "bad." What it wants is for you to either conform or retreat. I'll do neither, and neither should you. To thine own self be true... Walk forward bravely, with the courage of your convictions. The Left hates this...
ReplyDeleteThat being said; let not your computer determine your boundaries. Enjoy your break!
Pete...I sincerely doubt the Left will ever be overjoyed with me. I will never, ever conform or retreat. I may, however, back off slightly now and then to enjoy the part of my life that has nothing to do with politics.
DeleteBecause I live alone with nobody telling me what to do or when to do it, I more often than not find myself staring at a computer screen and I need a bit of a break from that as well as a break from the sheer stupidity of the Maxine Waters of this world. And the gun control crowd. And the open border advocates. Etc., etc., etc.
We can not fix stupid. But we sure as hell can vote it out of office.
i want the info that comes in the mail to be a letter from each political candidate telling why he should be elected, with no mention of his rivals.
ReplyDeletei wish i could find the truth!
just try to vote for who i think will be least harmful but that doesn't always work out.
they are very sly, all of them politicians but no learned statesmen.
deborah...I think genuine statesmen are a thing of the past. Your idea of a letter stating why we should vote for a candidate is an excellent one. I think what sent me over the edge was the fact that even with the constant barrage of political ads, I have no clue what any one candidate stands for. They are too busy bashing their opponents to tell us. A pox on them all!!
DeleteLooking forward to your return here. Hope you've enjoyed your time off.
ReplyDeleteMrDog and I have been dealing with lots of rain for days on end. Then a day of pure bliss - blue skies and sunshine. The leaves are almost all down and I'll be able to pack away the leaf blower soon.
I'm into my 2nd week of the new meds. No side effects. Can't really see a change but I know this is a marathon and not a sprint.
Cheers, SJ
SJ...I have been enjoying my break, mostly from politics. :) But it will be nice to get back to chatting with you all.
ReplyDeleteCold and rain here and more to come if the weather folks are correct. It sure feels like winter is in the air - too soon to suit me.
Glad to her no side effects from the new meds have shown up. I have been told that it sometimes takes time to sort of build up a new med before the effects are felt. Hang in there. It surely is worth a shot.
I am looking forward to getting back into my routine of fairly regular postings now that election day has finally come. The mudslinging continues today, but hopefully that will end tonight when the polls close. See you soon.
Looking forward to your posts and return.
DeleteYou're certainly optimistic. I'm more inclined to think the sore-losers/spoiled toddlers will be throwing more fits and tantrums. Said chuckling to myself as I type.
Cheers, SJ
Thanks, SJ...What I meant was the hateful ads should end tonight, although not three minutes ago one popped up from Wisconsin saying it was the Republicans fault they have manure in their water. Where on earth do they get this stuff!! Anyway, I agree with the toddlers and tantrums. I am planning to watch the election results this evening just so I can see the meltdown from the left-leaning media should the right carry the Senate and House. Hope springs eternal. :)
DeleteI have to say the political process here in Canada is one thing I really appreciate. They call an election and something like 60 days (maybe 90), it's done.
