Several years ago...

I started this silly little blog as a way to pass the time upon retirement and as a source of amusement for my kids and grands. As I became more involved in preparing and had the time to take a long, hard look at the world around us, the blog changed some. I'm still not sure if that was a good thing, but there it is.

To my utter amazement, people actually began reading what I had to say and to my surprise, began commenting on it.

If we take at face value all the ugliness and nastiness of the world as it stands now, especially after the past couple of years with all the insults to humanity, we can easily believe the world is full of horrible people.

But I know better.

I have never met any of you personally. Chances are pretty good I never will. But on several occasions I have asked for prayer and you have stepped up to the plate.

I don't know Gorges personally. I enjoy his blog and I have emailed a time or two. He almost always will leave a comment here. And as I do with all of you, I consider him a friend.

I have heard no more about how he is doing. I hope we will hear soon that he is on the road to recovery.

You, my friends – each and every one of you – with your willingness to pray for someone you don't know, have gone a long way to restore my faith in the human race.

May God bless you – each and every one.

  1. As fellow parts of the Body of Christ, we DO know each other, Vicki, whether we've physically met or not. I know many people on ham radio I've never met before, but that doesn't diminish their worth to me at all. The prayers will continue, though knowing Gorges is a Christian, his "It isn't fatal, but just old age" comment telegraphs deeper meaning than a nonbeliever might discern.

As for your blog, Vicki, we're thankful you've provided a space where like-minded people can gather, celebrate, commiserate, and learn from each other. As Proverbs 27:17 says, "Iron sharpens iron." Keep up the good work!

    1. Pete...You have expressed just how I feel about all of you. We know one another through our similar interests, but much more importantly, through our faith. And I did catch what may be a deeper meaning in Gorge's remark. Speaking only for myself, when the end approaches, it is with joy, knowing that I am truly going home. I know Gorges believes the same.

Even though, living as quiet a life as I do, it is sometimes a stretch to find something to write about, I will continue as long as is humanly possible. There are selfish reasons involved. I so thoroughly enjoy reading what you all have to say and I have the added bonus of learning from so many. So thank you for the "atta girl." It is much appreciated!

  4. Vicki~ I learned a long time ago that God is my Boss. A person can piss off anyone of this planet, but NEVER piss off the Boss. I've always been in His Safekeeping. When my time comes for this lifetime, He can send me back if needs be. Red

    1. Red...What a great way to look at it. I believe we have been in God's Safekeeping even at times when we didn't realize that we had been saved from harm through no fault of our own!

    1. Nursejoan...In these times when we look around us at the pure insanity, a reminder that "God's Got This" is a really good thing. So is recognizing kindred souls. God bless.

  7. There is a grace in simple living, kindness, and thankfulness for even the simplest of blessings. You have all those qualities, and bless us with your thoughts.

    Thank you and bless you.

    1. I am humbled by your kind words, Jess...Sometimes I think I rile folks more than bless, but perhaps in today's atmosphere, a little of both is needed.

I enjoy reading the words you write about what is happening in our world as well as when you are on the porch, coffee in hand, taking in nature around you. You have a way of making me think and also bringing peace. Thank you for that.

  8. Vicki, I don’t know if you realize just how much of a blessing you are to us. You and Gorges are the first two places I go every morning followed by Rev. Paul. God indeed has all of us, including you, me and George in his keeping as well as all of the wonderful folks who comment here. Continuing to pray for Gorges and for you too.

  13. I read you blog a lot, but do not comment. In today's crazy world, it is a small escape to read someone's thoughts and see what life is like in another part of the country. Thanks for taking the time to continue your blog. I miss Frank and Fern, I think that is where I found your blog at, I can't remember exactly. The world, especially the United States have many good folks, it is just a handful of elites that are putting the pressure on so many. May God Bless you and your family and the USA. Thanks again for your upbeat attitude.

    1. Morning Sun...I am so glad you stopped by and left a comment. I do enjoy hearing from all of you. When we can freely express our thoughts, it is a good thing. I miss Frank and Fern, too. They have a way of getting to the heart of whatever they write about.

Yes, there are those elites who would like to bend us to their will. But there are far more good folks like all of you who are having none of it and who just want to live their lives without so much interference from those who think they can control us.

May God truly bless you and yours, Morning Sun. Thank you for visiting here and especially for your comment.
