“Let them truckers roll, 10-4.”

That from the country song “Convoy” by C. W. McCall, many moons ago. But it seems that the events of the song are now a reality all across Canada, but for different reasons.

The Prime Minister of Canada mandated restrictions involving the jab on truck drivers crossing the border. The occupant of the White House here in the States followed suit.

So now, smack dab in the middle of a supply chain crisis, these two numbskulls decide to make it worse.

The Convoy of truckers started out as a protest against the virus mandates. But it has morphed into much more than that.

It is now the “Freedom Convoy.” There are 18-wheelers, some hauling trailers and some bob tailing. There are gravel trucks and cement trucks and pickup trucks, many sporting the Canadian flag and protest signs. I even saw a video where farm tractors had joined in.

These drivers are on their way to Ottawa to tell their government officials precisely what they think of their tyrannical mandates. And from what I have seen, it looks like these drivers are willing to stay there until things change.  Last I heard, there were 50,000 trucks involved.  I expect that number to grow between now and Saturday.

They are done. Done with the masks. Done with the lockdowns. Done with the mandates. Done with the tyranny.

And so are the Canadian citizens who are standing in the snow and cold – along the roads – on the overpasses – waving flags and carrying signs and cheering the passing truckers.

And so are the folks who have donated millions to help the drivers pay for food and fuel. And the ones who are delivering sandwiches and coffee to the drivers. And the folks who are opening their homes to those drivers who would like a shower and a bed for the night.

Americans – take a note. This is what happens when we stop believing what government tells us. When we refuse to accept their idea that we are all racist. When we ignore the fear mongering and get on with living our lives.

When we begin to act like Americans again, we can accomplish wonderful things.

  1. Vicki, this is fabulous! I am so proud of all those involved! Even prouder as a wife of a trucker! When the trucking world stops moving, everything stops. I've been to Ottawa. This convoy will bog down the capital. Everything in your blog post is spot on!

    1. Thanks, A Dime at a Time...I have been following the progress of the Convoy that is coming from all directions into Ottawa, and it seems like it has taken on a life of its own! Trudeau screwed up - big time - when he said this Convoy was just a few fringe protestors. Looks to me like nearly all of Canada and a good share of America are behind them, 100%. About damn time!!

  2. Well said, my Friend. I went shopping today and will say that in my area the shelves are very well stocked. Thank God for the farmers and truckers who are truly devoted to providing the food we need. Stand up, America, the truckers need your support!

    1. Thanks, CW...I hear that store shelves in my area are beginning to look fairly sparce. We really do need to support the farmers and truckers. It wouldn't be a bad thing if something similar happened here in the States. DC is badly in need of a wake-up call!!

    1. I am not sure just how it happened, but America as a whole went from a proud, independent nation to one full of fear and strife. That has to change.

  4. I am a Canadian and have seen the oil convoy go by and now the truckers. Trudeau has once again bailed on both us and the US. Supposedly he was in contact with someone with Covid. He goes into hiding every time something big like this happens. I am thankful for the American truckers who have come up in support. All of North America needs to be strong to get through this mess. 1. Jean...I am so very proud of the truckers on both sides of the border. They are standing up for what is right and true. As far as our 'leaders' go, yours hides and mine doesn't know what day it is. I love the fact that both are being shown that they work for us - not the other way around!

  5. And the MSN this morning is reporting a 'few hundred' trucks heading to Ottawa. Right.
So far the PM has not announced a plan to meet with them but one of the other political parties will hold a meeting.

    1. SJ...I have seen very few reports about this on MSM, most of which are trying to spin it as some sort of violent, lunatic fringe idea. However, the average citizens are behind the truckers 100%. Seems to me that it is about time someone in politics listened to those who pay their salaries.

  6. "It was the dark of the moon on 6th of June in a Kenworth... haulin' logs, a cabover 'Pete with a reefer on and a Jimmy... haulin' hogs..."

Yup; I remember Convoy. I still have a CB in the car and the pickup even though I'm a ham operator now. Ham radio is great, but if you want to stay in touch with the heartbeat of America, CB is the stethoscope.

You know that somewhere, some time before the American Revolution, someone had to say "If we want freedom, it's up to us." Indeed it is now as it was then, Vicki. 'Time to put the hammer down, folks...

    1. Pete...More years ago than I care to admit to, I worked in the trucking industry. For the most part, behind the silliness of CB chatter, were honest folks who worked hard and more than earned every dime of their pay. It took a lot to rile them, but once provoked, watch out.

I truly hope and pray that the drivers here in the States do something similar, for I can think of no better group to get the job done.

  7. I live in Alberta Canada and Trudeau calls us rednecks anyway(even though the majority is highly educated) but all I can say is don't mess with the trucker's ,they've had enough !So far this has been a peaceful demonstration and I hope it gets resolved soon because there are already supply chain issues and shortages. From what I can see though the majority of Canadians are supporting them and it is Massive !

    2. Those in charge here like to call us redneck hillbillies, too. I wear it as a badge of honor, for some of the best people I know are hillbillies!!
We are having supply chain issues and shortages here as well. But if we have to endure it for a longer time, so be it. Whatever it takes to remove the heel of government from the back of our necks!
I hear that some of our drivers have crossed the border to join yours. I truly hope they will bring back home the kind of hope that seems to be spreading across Canada. God bless you all!
