Taking a Break...

to let my sewing machine cool down.  Just kidding, but it has been in nearly constant use for a few days.  Each of my six grands has a 'Grandma Made' rag type quilt, as does the first great grand.  So it is only fitting that the second great grand has one too.  It should be finished in a day or so.  There are also several quilt tops that need to be finished and turned into usable, warm quilts.  I hear the winter promises to be long and cold.

I have also taken a break from canning and dehydrating, mainly because I simply have no space left in my little apartment to stack any more food in jars without being in danger of tripping over them.  However, I am still stacking foods like rice and oatmeal and pasta.  And I am filling in gaps in my medicine chest.

I suppose I could go on another rant, but there are so many things happening right now that it might be hard to pick one.  I think I will just keep an eye on what is happening and continue to get ready for when the insanity comes to my town.  As far as I can tell, there is no stopping the left from working overtime to tear our country apart.  I can't stop them.  But I can do my best to be ready for them.

Until then, I will enjoy the sunny fall day, continue to sew like crazy and pray while doing so.

Pray and prepare, my friends.  Pray and prepare.

PS...

I just took the time to watch 'Appalacian Homestead with Patara.'  In this video, she says what the rest of us are thinking.  It is well worth your time.

  1. Speaking of insanity, California's own "governor" Newsom, the guy who's mandated that his constituents eschew the internal combustion engine for utopian electric cars, the one who is eying the White House as if it were a bitch in heat, piped up yesterday to tell everyone to turn off their A/C's and... wait for it... not charge their electric cars because... wait for it... the state was reaching its "rolling blackout" stage... It was 108* yesterday... My take; if there's enough electricity for several MILLIONS of illegal aliens, there's enough for me to set my A/C where I feel comfortable...

You're right, Vicki... Don' git me goin'! The Titanic is down by the bow. One can either watch the water rise,... or look for a lifeboat...

    God bless!

    1. Pete...You know, I thought my governor was bat guano crazy, but I am afraid yours has mine beat six ways from Sunday. Of a states electric grid can not handle summer air conditioning, how on earth is it going to handle millions of electric cars. I know a couple of third graders who could figure that one out, for goodness sake!

It would not surprise me at all if we here in Minnesota have something similar happen with our heating come maybe February. We can survive summer heat nicely, but freezing to death in February is a reality.

I seriously doubt if there are enough real men left to take care of the problem. Most are worried about which bathroom to use or which pronoun they are. Sigh.

My lifeboat is through prayer. I see no other on the horizon. God bless you and yours, my friend.

  2. I am so thankful that I am now living close to family and friends. My puppygirl and I landed here Tuesday night and are settling in. I am looking forward to Sunday and attending in person church.
Sitting here trying to think of how to sign my posts now....LOL..SJ in Vancouver BC just isn't true anymore. And wanting to be 'grey' going forward, I think I'll just signoff as SJ.....ps Thanks for everyone who prayed for me. SJ

  4. Vicki~ A break sounds good. We got a notice that our power will be out for 7 hours over night. The reason is they need to replace a pole that feeds power to our neighborhood. Which means we need to clean out the freezer and fridge before that happens. I have enough coolers and will get some ice and dry ice. Red

    1. Red...Well, at least there is a good reason for the power to be shut off. And it won't be out for too long. Still is a pain in the patoot to have to move all the frozen food and cold stuff.
I just needed a break from processing food and I really want to get more quilts finished before winter. Minus 20 degrees and colder is not unusual for us mid winter. I hear you may need to ration air conditioning. I wonder if we are going to have to ration heat. Gotta love this administration. Not!

  5. Glad to hear from you, Vicki! Changing one’s focus from time to time seems to help me as well.

Right now, my focus is on sorting through closets and getting rid of stuff we don’t need since we retired, like work clothes, notebooks, etc. Of course, this means more room to store supplies, wink wink!

Hubs is working on our wood supply. We’re stacking it in the front yard, just to tweak the HOAs nose ( bunch of snooty busybodies). We can have up to a cord visible from the street, so you can bet we’ll have every bit of a cord in full view. The rest will be out of view.

I love the idea of quilts, btw. I have one that my Grandma made with squares of fabric from clothes she made for us and Grandpa. I look at it and can remember seeing Grandpa wearing that blue shirt and the flowered tops she made my sister and I. The memories are priceless!

I intend to keep praying and preparing for all of us. If there’s anything I can do from down South to help, let me know. It’s really important, I believe, for us to support each other in these times.

    God bless,
    Lucy and Tigers Mom

    1. Hi LTM...Changing focus once in a while seems to save me from burnout. And with winter not all that far away, finishing the quilts is a priority. I now wish I had thought to make quilts from my kid's clothing, but sadly, I wasn't quilting when they were small.

It is fun sometimes to rile those who have the mistaken notion that they are our betters. Love the firewood in the front yard!!

I need to do some of that sorting and tossing too, but it seems like there are so many other things on my 'to do' list that it will just have to wait.

After finding out from the potato-in-chief's speech last night that as a conservative I am considered an enemy of the state, I do believe I might have to become ungovernable. What do you suppose will happen if half the country just says 'No" and "Hell, No' to the left's insanity.

I am convinced that we are in serious trouble. I may be in the north and you are in the south, but we all have to stick together if we are to win this war. God truly bless you and yours and may He keep you safe.

  6. Yes Vicki , It is important to be able to recognize those on the same wave length as God followers. Sometimes it looks like the people that want to take over America are better organized . Their agenda is much more specific and vocal . Christians , Patriots , Preppers , etc. don't march in parades ... Gays , Lesbians , Trans , Abortionists ,Vegans , etc. let their lifestyles be known to all ... having said that it still looks like the politicians would like to keep regular traditional values muted ... God Bless everyone on your blog , and you Vicki ... Patrick ... also you have inspired me to start my own !

    1. Patrick...It is sometimes hard to tell the good guys from the bad guys. I think that many of us who are in favor of God and country are becoming afraid of speaking out. We are called crazy because we prepare and we are called 'domestic terrorists' because we do not fall in line with the agenda of the left. It is more important than ever to stay strong. We sometimes forget that God is in charge.

Please share your blog address so I can add it to my side bar. I would just love to see what you are doing. God bless.

  7. Dear Vicki and Blog Friends...I am late to the posting, but better late than never.

I just love reading all your comments! As you all know we are living in strange and abnormal times.

One of the things taking place currently is the Left beating up on the Right, unnecessary labeling and name calling. There is most definately a reason for it.

The Left is attempting to anger us to the point that we rise up, begin rioting and react violently. They claim we did this before, however we know who was behind that don't we.

I realize that I am off topic, but I pray that all of you will avoid being sucked into anything that may cause you
great harm. Use caution when out and about, and keep your head on a swivel.

Continue praying and prepare like never before...CW

    1. CW...There can be no doubt what the Left has in mind for those who do not fall in line with their agenda, after seeing yesterday's speech that was the most horrific I have heard coming from one that is supposed to be our leader. I think taken as a whole - the backdrop, the Marines on guard (I am pretty sure they must be ashamed to have been ordered to take part) and the hateful words, there is no doubt that the message conveyed to we - the conservatives - is nothing less than Satanic. God help us all!

    2. Unfortunately Vicki, the Marines had no choice. They're Honor Guard, and that was their order for the day.

Oh; and don'r forget about the commie red lighting in the backdrop! There was definitely an attempt to convey an image of fear here. 'Didn't work... Leastwise not on me... 'Made me ever more resolute a "MAGA" man! Imagine that; ominous red lighting in front of FREEDOM HALL!

About the only words of truth spoken during that speech were from the guy on the megaphone in the distance yelling "F*CK JOE BIDEN!" ...BRAVO ZULU to that guy!

      Delete
    3. Pete...I know the Marines were not there by choice. To use them in that fashion just shows me that Biden has no respect for our military.

The attempt to scare us into compliance didn't work well on me either. Had more the effect of digging in my heels and resisting as much as possible. The man is a fool, but fools can be dangerous. So can his handlers.

We need more guys with megaphones!!

    4. And here's a "fun fact" concerning that speech; I just heard this morning that when CNN carried Der Furer’s speech, it TWEAKED THE COLOR OF THE LIGHTING!!! I looked it up… IT’S TRUE!!! If you do a search, you’ll find CNN’s version of the “truth” CHANGED THE COLOR of the backlighting from red to PINK!!! Gee... I wonder why... Now ALL FIVE of CNN’s remaining viewers are saying “What was so wrong about the lighting?”

…You can’t make this up… but CNN can!!!

    5. Oh, Good Grief! Really? How totally Grade School!
I looked it up and you are right. As if a pink background would change the fact that you and I and every other clear thinking conservative are now considered 'domestic terrorists.'
CNN and the rest of the Main Stream Media would not know the truth even if it bit them on the bum!
What I am trying to figure out, Pete, is how exactly a 76 year old grandma who is housebound can possibly be a threat to anyone. Well, perhaps, if I run out of coffee.....

      Delete
    6. We're a threat, Vicki, because we remember how things used to be and how they SHOULD be. Our memories, education, and wisdom can't be "redefined..."

    7. You are spot on, Pete. I have never in my lifetime seen things change for the worse as quickly as they are just now. One of the things I am working on is writing down memories of what life was like before the world went bat guano crazy. I want my grands to at least have an idea of what freedom should be like. I seriously doubt they will live that way themselves.
