Here's the thing...
I don't care what was on Hunter's laptop. Nor do I care what percentage of ill gotten gains went to the 'Big Guy.' I have no interest in who dines with Trump. Who is banned from Twitter and who is not is of no interest to me either.
Every day one politician or another is bellowing about the wrongs being done by those in the opposing political party. The next day those opposing are screaming a rebuttal to the accusations of the accusers.
Nobody seriously tries to change anything. They would rather get their faces on TV and their pockets lined by special interest groups. There is not even one politician I would trust. If they were honest people they would not be politicians.
I will not be marching in the streets to protest anything. That changes nothing and these days is more likely to get me run over or shot. Write or call my congress critters? Nope. Whatever makes anyone think the politicians care what we the people think.
I have come to a place where most of my alloted time on this earth has past. There are not all that many days left. I can think of no good reason to waste time worrying about what government types are doing. They are going to do what they want no matter what I say.
What it comes down to is that many of us just want to be left alone. Not by friends and family, but by those in power who think it is just fine to tell us how we need to live when they have not a single clue about what it takes to live a normal, everyday life.
I intend to live out my days spending time with kids and grands and great-grands. My pantry is full enough to feed my family for a long time if necessary, but I will continue to add to it. There are quilts to sew and afghans to crochet and genealogy research to be done. Those things make me happy. The government has not even once thought about my happiness or that of the rest of us. So they can just scream and holler all they want. I am not impressed. Nor do I care any more.
I am just done. I refuse to comply with their silly edicts and mandates. I refuse to bow and scrape. I have only one Lord and Master and He doesn't live in DC!
We know they will not leave us alone. Continue to prepare. Continue to pray. And perhaps if enough of us just say "No," that might at least slow them down a bit.
Well said. I am likewise coming to the conclusion that my life would be so much more peaceful if I could shut out all the noise and bellowing (such a great description of what comes from the politicians). I've said for about fifteen years now that my King is not in DC.
ReplyDeletechipmunk...I think I am just tired of all the foolishness. Those of us who prepare - those of us who know how to do stuff - we will survive in spite of those who wish to rule over us. Hope they know how to pound sand.
DeleteYep. I’m over it, too. I don’t even watch news or go looking for anything anymore. I may see a headline or two, but the world is too much for me.
ReplyDeleteI often wish Congress was like back when the country was formed….no big salaries, no big perks…no apartments in DC…just get there, handle the business, and go home. Too much corruption and wasting taxpayer dollars. I also wish they didn’t get their big pensions and premium healthcare. I feel like they are so far removed from the average American, they have no business making decisions for others. And term limits….good grief, those would be a great starting point.
I didn’t mean to complain, but this is why I pay it no mind anymore myself. I just try to be a good person and take care of my home and family. I feel like that’s all I can do right now.
Mandy...I am right there with you. I sort of wish we could go back to the beginnings, but we can't. We are stuck here in the present.
DeleteYou are not complaining. Not even a little bit. Being as good a person as possible and taking care of home and family is by far and away more important than pretending to care for those who voted them into office. A pox on the lot of them!!
Hi Vicki...Yes, I'm also done, done! I live in Illinois and my State has been done for a long time thanks to corrupt Democrat's controlling in Springfield. I am a person who reads/follows Twitter (rarely posts a word) but I so agree with you. News gets reported, the first thing our "elected" Congress will do is "have investigative HEARINGS"..LOL! That is the end of that !! I will be 79 next month..I'm glad. I'm thankful not to be raising children in this crazy young generation. I've been a widow and lived alone for the last 40 years so my life and decisions are my own. I'm thankful God has guided me all those years and stays with me today and whatever will come.
ReplyDeletelynney62...You have my deepest sympathies for living in Illinois, although I would guess that your state might be somewhat like my state of Minnesota. Once you get out of the big cities and get deeper into the rural areas, you will find God fearing conservatives behind every tree!
DeleteMy grands are all adults with a couple of exceptions. I worry less about them than I do about the toddler and infant great-grands. What the future holds for them scares me.
Wouldn't it be nice if those Congressional Hearings actually resulted in fixing problems? Instead we get theater - and very badly acted theater at that.
It is by God's grace that I am still here. And I have no doubt that same grace will see us through.
Vicki~ My eyeballs are so up to here and I've had it. The Idget in charge wants to give Slavery Reparations to the tune of $59 BILLION . Our Infrastructure is crumbling and he wants to do this. Where's a Hand of God Justice when it is needed. Red
ReplyDeleteRed...I will still keep an eye on what is happening. It is wise to know what the enemy is up to. But as corrupt as our government is now, I have serious doubts if America as we knew it can be salvaged.
DeleteI will no longer participate in their silly-ass games. I will not comply. What I will do is live out my days on my own terms.
My memory might not be as good as it once was. But what I do remember and will never forgive or forget is that my son died alone in a hospital room because of our governor's stupid virus mandates that did not allow his family to be with him. Will I go along with any more stupidity? Nope.
Amen, Vicki. They have made it clear they care only for greed and not for America.
ReplyDeleteYou all be safe and God bless.
LindaG...You are so very right. None of them give a rodent's behind what happens to us - the ones who voted them into office. The ones who pay their salaries. I am of the opinion that someone needs to bulldoze down every government building in DC and start from scratch - including starting over with the people working in those buildings.
DeleteTake care and may God richly bless you and yours.
greed---when i was young i could not understand why lust for money was the worst thing because i can think of sins much more egregious to my mind
Deletebut now that i am older i see the corruption that comes from the fierce unquenched lust for riches and i have more understanding
the other sins follow greed
plenty of money allows its owner to indulge every other sin
The lust for money and power have caused many bad things to happen. And yet, on and on it goes.
DeleteBoth political parties want us to believe what they say, and not what we see in front of our own eyes! They're like "professional" wrestlers, and we're supposed to be the chairs and trashcans they throw at each other. In the end, they all go out for drinks and dinner together. We just get to pay the bill. It's nothing but theater... and I'm not a prop to be thrown around!
ReplyDelete...I will keep an eye on the play, but will not be sucked into it. Like you, my energy is spent staying ahead of these rats... no matter what it takes. After all, the survivors of Titanic didn't sit there watching the water rise... They headed for the lifeboats...
Your 'professional' wrestlers analogy is spot on, Pete. Talk big, yell loud and follow the script. I am so very weary of it all.
DeleteI will keep an eye on them, for none of them can be trusted. And I like to be aware of what they are throwing at me this time.
If these people were honest, they wouldn't bother with their 'hearings,' for those are nothing more than a good way to stay in the spotlight. They would have the criminals arrested, hauled up in front of a judge who would send them behind bars where they belong. But since honesty is not something associated with politicians, I won't hold my breath waiting for that to happen.
Instead I will be looking for the lifeboat!
I feel exactly the same way. I am not wasting any of my time on anything other than myself. I'm done! I had enough. I want to enjoy the rest of my limited life left. I rely on God. Not some lying government or politician. GOD!
ReplyDeleteCindy...Those of us who are at the age of retirement have earned the right to do what pleases us. And listening to the crap coming out of DC does not please me. I find my tolerance for BS is at an all time low. Like you, I rely on God. He never lies. Politicians could learn something!
DeleteYep, Vicki, I feel the same way. I only want to pay attention to enough so that I know what might be coming up my drive but beyond that……
ReplyDeleteAnother interesting thing I’ve noticed since we got back from our long road trip. When I’m reading things on my tablet, not books but news, when I turn it off there is this blessed resounding silence in my head. I think there’s just too much of everything going on in the world. I’m not convinced that we’re equipped to handle it all. In fact I’m sure we’re not! That’s why we need to spend more time in prayer.
Blessings to all,
-Lucy and Tigers Mom
"Be still and know that I am God." Seems to me it is tough to hear what God has planned for us if we are busy watching the clowns in the circus.
DeleteLTM, I believe we can handle more than we think we can. But only, as you say, if we talk with God about whatever the problem is. And more importantly, if we talk with Him when there is no problem to be solved.
Take care and God bless.
Yep. Quit. All of you.
ReplyDeleteThat's what they want you to do.
They wore you down.
I'm not trying to be rude.
I get it.
Ed...Never in the world would I accuse you of being rude. So don't accuse me of being a quitter. I simply will not play their silly-ass games any longer. I will not comply with their mandates. What it boils down to is simply saying 'No.'
DeleteI have 15 people in my immediate family. Seeing to it that they are taken care of in rough times is vastly more important to me than Hunter's laptop or who is on Twitter.
I do what I can. I will continue to keep an eye on the bastards. But I refuse to waste time on those things that are out of my control. I don't have all that much time left to waste any of it.
Honestly, I feel like refusing to participate in their ridiculous games is one avenue we have open to us to opposing them. Starve the beast and all that.
DeleteThat is exactly where I am, chipmunk...Give up my guns? NO! Take a vaccine because someone says I have to? NO! Go along with their mandates that are good for them but bad for me? NO!
DeleteI physically can not protest in the streets. I have seen the futility of trying to connect with my representatives. What is left for me is to refuse to go along with the stupidity. And refuse, I shall!
Not quitting. Just saving my energy for what really needs to be done. Gobbling up lip service from our "representatives" doesn't fall under that heading...
DeletePete...We know that those in power are going to do whatever they want no matter what we think. Nobody is going to save us - especialy those government types. So I would rather concentrate on making sure my family is as well taken care of as possible.
