There comes a time...

when perhaps it is a good idea to put everything on hold and spend time with loved ones or just doing other things.  That's where I am.  So I will be here resting, reading, sewing or whatever I decide to do until after the new year.

Here in the Great White North, everything is frozen solid.  The temp this evening is minus 8 degrees.  Snow and wind are headed our way.

We don't need to prepare for the end of the world.  Preparing for cold and snow and wind is just important.  While others are lining up in the grocery stores, stocking up on whatever they need to get through the storm, I will be sitting on my cozy apartment with a cup of hot chocolate, watching the storm from the comfort of my recliner.  Your neck of the woods may have different weather related difficulties, but being well prepared is the same no matter where we are.

Stay safe.  Enjoy the holidays as much as possible.  Wishing each and every one of you a very Merry Christmas and a better New Year.

  1. Merry Christmas, Vicki! We’re stocked with coffee, books, and firewood down here so all should be well. Your idea of just taking a break is excellent advice. Think I’ll take it!

Merry Christmas to all our little community!

    1. And a very Merry Christmas to you and yours, LTM...Sometimes it is a good idea to just stop, take a deep breath and relax a bit to prevent prepping burnout. Works for me. :)

  2. A very Merry Christmas to you, Vicki, and to all the readers. I've finally rebuilt my coffee stash up to a 6 month supply so am pleased with that. Staying cozy here as well with the freezing fog outside.

    1. SJ...Pom poms flying for rebuilding your stash. I know it was difficult to have to leave much of it behind in Canada. Glad you have your priorities straight - replacing the coffee. :)

    1. Merry Christmas, Pete...Minnesota can get a bit chilly. Deer season is usually the first weekend in November. One year my boys went hunting in minus 33 degree weather. They did that because at that time, we needed the meat! May God richly bless you and yours, my friend.

  7. It is a lovely gift to give oneself, the gift of rest. Merry Christmas, and as a dear departed friend used to say, "May God give us a good year, and if not....then the strength to overcome a bad one."

    1. Sometimes the gift of rest is necessary in order to get ready for the next project. I like your quote and wish for you the same. Merry Christmas.

  10. So good to hear you are staying in, staying warm, and relaxing!! I'm down in central Illinois and we didn't get much snow, just the below freezing temps. I'm "prepared" thanks to much of your great advice, and warm as a bear relaxing in a comfy afghan and dinner done in the crockpot. Merry Christmas, Vicki!!

    1. lynney62...Sometimes a person just needs to stop and smell the roses or the coffee or whatever does it for them. And that is exactly what I am doing now. We didn't get a lot of snow, but the wind has picked up and is blowing it around. The below zero temps aren't much fun. But isn't it lovely that because we thought ahead, we don't need to venture out. Love your afghan and crockpot dinner. I will just add a good mystery novel. :)
Merry Christmas to you and yours!
