Question...

Is anyone else but me noticing how often the F-bomb is being dropped?  Doesn't seem to matter where or under what circumstances.

I am not a prude.  I know there have been times when provoked that I have been guilty of unleashing language more becoming to a drunken sailor than to a lady.  But it is not language in the heat of the moment that I am talking about.

Many of my evenings are spent with computer videos and yarn and a crochet hook.  I watch many preparedness YouTube channels and sometimes other channels just for the etertainment value.  It is on the latter channels that I have noticed a serious uptick of ugly language.  It seems like folks have lost the ability to talk without dropping those bombs.

Thing is, those words are no longer bombs.  They now seem to just be part of everyday conversation.  So I have to wonder if words that years back were not uttered in polite society are now just part of the program to bring the population down to the level of some crawling creature.  Like the insistance that men can be women if they wear a skirt.  Like the insistance that abortion is not really murder.  Like the insistance that white people have some sort of privilege and are automatically racist.  Like that.

When we let all those things go by without question, we are agreeing that all of it is just dandy.  I do not think these ideas are dandy.  I think they are dangerous.  And to not acknowledge them is to agree with having our lives turned backwards and upside down.

Nope.  Not gonna do it.  Not gonna agree.  Not gonna allow that kind of foolishness under my roof.  So there!  End of rant.  For now.

  1. I'm with you. It's unfortunate how many shows we've had to turn off because the language was too riddled with profanity. Unnecessary profanity. Sheesh. It just gets so it detracts (and distracts) from the story line.

    1. chipmunk...I think when this trend is added to all the rest of the insanity around us, it just becomes too much - at least for me. I know about free speech and all, but it seems to me that common sense might kick in when using language that children would be better off without.

    1. Ah, yes. Creativity. So much better than following the crowds with their swear words. :)

  3. Definiteley with you on this, Vicki. About 25 years ago in the line to order at McD's with my young son, there were a couple of guys ahead of us dropping f bombs and generally swearing like there were no women and kids around listening to them. Loud and obnoxious. I let'em have it like I was their own mother . And they stopped and behaved themselves. Took a little nerve on my part at the time. Don't know if I'd have the nerve to do that today.

    1. Good for you in standing up to the potty mouth crowd! Not so sure in today's environment if I would have the nerve!

    1. deb...I always told my kids that I considered those who used foul language to be too dumb to think of better words. Now I have no doubt that they may use salty language sometimes, but to this day they don't use it around their mother. :)

  5. My Dad used to say that swearing just showed a lack of intelligence. And certainly a lack of character. I can't remember ever hearing him swear. I try to follow his example but do admit to using an f-bomb occasionally. The notary who refused to provide service to me because he didn't understand the form I brought to him for his service immediately comes to mind. He and everyone in his office knew my feelings about being denied service after waiting for him.

But I digress. I blame TV and lowered standards there. Or no standards now.

Great post and it got me thinking.

    1. SJ...There is a vast difference between dropping a bomb in the heat of anger and using it as a casual part of speech. I have to wonder if the continual use of bad words is due to lower standards. Or perhaps lower intelligence. :)

    1. I'm not sure, but I think he probably was tired of it all. It takes a lot of time and effort to keep a blog like his up and running. I know he has health issues, so I hope it is just a case of burn out and nothing more serious. I miss his posts.

    2. Yeah; Gorges mentioned something about having trouble with his blogging platform and said something about maybe giving it up. I miss that one...

    3. Thank you for letting me know. He was a favorite, as you are. I'm just not a commenter. Kathy

  7. In short, Vicki, This kind of thing was probably going on right around the time Jerusalem fell and Israel was carted off to Babylon... Methinks God won't be any more tolerant with us as He was with them... Stand by for heavy rolls as the ship comes about...

    1. I am rather surprised, Pete, that God has let this nation go on for as long as we have. When the people reject Him as has been done, we have no right to expect mercy. Yeah...heavy rolls. Soon, I think.

    1. Ann...It is so easy to do when angry. I guess I wish we lived in a more quiet, gentle time when that sort of language just wasn't used in polite society.
