My Son Was Right

He told me that if I didn't have a place to rant, my head would explode.  And I have to admit that the explosion is getting close.

This morning I watched a video by our bumbler and chief.  He again wants to take our guns.  And if he can't get his hands on them, he wants us to keep our guns under lock and key.  Now I can understand that perhaps households with small children might want to keep their guns out of reach.

Just for the record, my four children were raised around firearms.  They were taught about safety and respect for the tools, for that is what they are.  That tool brought home venison to feed them.   That tool chased off someone who might have done them harm.  They, unlike many today, were raised to have respect for their parents and for the rules.

Picture a 77 year old woman who lives alone in an apartment located in the downtown area of a rather large suburb.  When I first moved here about 25 years ago, I knew the neighbors.  Even though I am surrounded by bars, I had no fear of walking my dogs after dark.  I worked in the neighborhood and had no fear of walking a few blocks home after 10 PM.

That has changed.  I wouldn't consider going out after dark now.  The neighborhood has changed in that there seem to be more people who are angry most of the time compared to the friendly neighbors of years past.  My building is over 100 years old.  The cheapest of doors were used when the upper floor was converted to apartments.  A good swift kick could open my door.

I don't move fast at all any more.  The pace of a herd of turtles is an apt description!  So someone kicks in my door.  What am I supposed to do.  Ask the intruder politely to please wait to hurt or kill me while I go unlock my gun safe?  Or without any protection, perhaps if I throw a can of tomatoes at him, that might just keep me alive.  (snark)

I want to peacefully live out my remaining years.  And that includes avoiding any violence.  We all know that violence is becoming more prevalant in our society.  I pray the time never comes when I need to protect myself from the bad guys.  Who have guns.  Who will never give up their guns.

And because our government is only going after the good guys with guns, mine will stay within reach.  And will not be locked up.  And will not be turned in no matter what fraudulant laws the state or federal boneheads come up with.  After all, the Second Amendment is there to protect the citizens from a tyranical government.

Looks like we may need them sooner than later.

  1. Vicki, you are so good at reading my mind! I agree with everything you said, but have expressed yourself so much better than I would. Very glad to have your "rant" pop up! I have missed you and your delightful family of followers.

    1. Thanks, CW...Part of posting again is that I didn't count on missing everyone so very much. And then there is the exploding head thing. :) What kind of idiot tells me to turn in my guns while he goes nowhere without armed guards. BS!

  2. Vicki, any law enacted in violation of the Constitution is itself illegal. No, my... ...cordless hole puncher... won't be going anywhere either. If bearing arms makes me a criminal, then so be it. Hell; criminals get a better shake in America anyway, so it's pretty much a no-brainer! Between the "more equal" farm animals wanting us disarmed and wanting us "vaccinated" via our food supply, it's clear that they see us as nothing more than livestock to be worked, milked, or slaughtered. I'm getting to the end of the "work" and anyone trying to milk me is going to have a profoundly unpleasant experience! As for "slaughtered..." well, as I said, the cordless hole puncher isn't leaving my side...

So glad you're back, Vicki!!! God bless you and yours!!!

    1. Pete...I am of an age where a life sentence isn't much of a deterrent! And I have been known to be a bit ornery. OK. A lot ornery. Don't like being told what to do. So confiscation of "cordless hole punchers" is not happening here. And unless they are sneaking meds into our food, useless vaccinations are not happening here either.

I am managing to do what I need to do for my family, but after having thought it through a bit more, I have come to the conclusion that if I am not willing to publically stand up for what I believe, then I am part of the problem.

Good to hear from you, my friend. God bless!

  4. Vicki~ My Dad taught all of us the handling and care of weapons early. We started out small and graduated to larger pieces. I learned how to take them apart and clean them. Went shooting at the local Police range. An Instructor told Dad my eyes were bad by the way my shots were hitting the target and I needed glasses. I still need glasses to shoot and I always hit the target. When we take an early evening walk, we carry zappers. Red

    1. Red...My Dad taught me the proper use of weapons, too. By age 12 I was taking his .22 rifle out into the woods and across the fields to do some target shooting. Sometimes he taught me by experiencing the lesson - a 12 gauge shotgun - the one I begged to shoot - would set a small 12 year old smartly on the ground. Mostly I was taught how to safely use firearms and mostly to respect what they could do. The gun grabbers are clearly uneducated. Or stupid. Not sure which.

  5. I just knew I wouldn't be the first one to read this post!! BTW- I'm of an age that when I went to sleepover camp (thankyou dear parents for that gift) they had both riflery and archery for camper activities. I learned at a young age to respect the tools. SJ now in California

    1. SJ...Back when my kids were teens, the school district offered gun safety courses. Now kids are taught that guns are the problem. Wrong. The criminals who shoot the guns are the problem. (Kicking soapbox back into the corner.) Take good care.

  6. Good to see you back, Vickie. We have the same problem with the same boneheads up here in Canada and I am of the same mind as you - the gun grabbers can go pound sand. It’s going to get ugly if they get stupid about it.

    1. Thanks, Filthie...It feels good to be back. From what I hear, you Canadians have it much worse with the firearms rules and regulations than we do, but I fear we might be catching up fast. If it were up to most city dwellers, we would be a gun free nation. But rural folks have common sense and understand that no gun ever shot anything all by itself. Too bad the 'woke' contingent hasn't figured that out as yet.
      Take care.

  10. I see you couldn't stay away from your platform of free speech. Ha! I posted my "Farewell" today, and all day long so far I've felt like I've lost something important. I wonder if I'll cave eventually too.
Your subject matter is an excellent kick-starter, and I can only cheer you on...Atta Boy, Vickie!! It'll probably only be a matter of time before something ticks me off in the right way to make me jump back in too.

Meanwhile...I got some weeding & pondering done today, in spite of feeling like I've lost something important.

I was born in 64. Taught to respect God, my elders, my country, my family and guns.
At age 10, a peeping Tom terrified my 20 year old sister.
I pointed Daddy’s gun at him through the window to scare him off and told Daddy about it when he got home.
Daddy was proud, he warned the man visiting next door with the blessing of his hosts and we lived to see another day.
Our current neighborhood, where I safely walked alone as a pretty young woman after 10 pm 25 years ago, is no longer safe for my husband and I to walk the dog in daylight.
    God help us all.
