I Murdered My Herbs

I had planted herb seeds in starter pots.  They all came up.  Looked so pretty and green.  When they were big enough I transplanted them into larger pots and set them on my window sills.  At which point most of them just laid down and died.

I can grow just about anything in a garden.  But I'll be darned if I can keep a plant alive indoors.  I baby them.  I am careful not to over water them or under water them.  I even talk to them.  Tell them how pretty they are.  Doesn't matter.  They just won't grow for me.

There are a few stragglers left and they look pretty sad.  So I'm going to give it one more try and plant the rest of my seeds directly in the larger pots.  And if that doesn't work I will just pack up the whole kit and kaboodle until next spring when I will buy starter plants.

Sigh.

  1. I think the indoors is often just not humid enough for most plants.

  2. Gorges...You are probably right. Whatever the reason, growing things indoors just doesn't seem to work for me. :)

  4. That's OK, Rob...Sometimes all we can do is laugh. I should have known, given my past experience with growing plants indoors, but I guess it was worth a shot anyway. :)

  5. every spring daughter asks how many pants i am planning to kill that year.
apparently overwatering is my weapon of choice.

  6. Deb...That is so funny. I'm guessing I might be doing the same thing. I don't know. Perhaps I should just resign myself to buying my herbs. :)

  7. My sympathies, I am in the process of killing a lantana on our patio that was real happy...now, not so much. :-(

  8. Oh dear. Well, it is good to know I am not alone in the killing of innocent green plants. Put a seed in the ground and it will flourish, but put it in a pot and it is doomed.

  9. Let me tell you, I am an expert at keeping tender perennials alive inside all winter only to have them die about a week or two before it is warm enough to put them outside.

  10. Thanks for stopping by, John...Oh, no! Well, you are still miles ahead of me on keeping plants alive indoors. I should have known better considering my dismal record with indoor plants. But the silly optimist in me just had to try one more time.
