Flu Bug

Oldest Son had the flu this past week.  Missed a couple days of work.  He shared.  My own fault.  I asked him to come over to help me.  He is better.  I am not.  Headed back to bed.  This flu bug isn't lethal - just has given me that "run over by a bus" feeling.  I will be back as soon as possible to dazzle you with my brilliant posts.  But not today.  Probably not tomorrow either.  I can be found under my green fuzzy blanket, Kleenex and cough syrup and fruit juice at hand.  I really hate this.

  1. The Flu is one terrible illness I hope I never have to suffer again. The last time I was stricken, which was decades ago, my fever left me feeling disoriented and dizzy.

I hope your family is close, so you can call if your symptoms get too severe.

    1. Jess...I don't think this is influenza. Just garden variety headachy, touchy stomach type flu. My oldest son lives in the same building and in the apartment next door. The rest of the kids live within 45 minutes of me. I am well cared for. :)

    1. Thank you, Anon...This isn't severe - just enough to keep me quiet for a time.

    1. BW...Yep. The green fuzzy blanket not only warms me but also doubles as a Linus type security blanket. It helps.

    1. Not your fault, Son. But you probably should stay away until I am over this. You don't need another round of it. I love you, too.

  6. Sorry to hear you're under the weather. Drink plenty of whiskey, forget the aspirin and don't worry about the doctor.

    1. Wish I could indulge in a hot toddy, but sadly, alcohol in any form is not on my menu. So it is vitamin C juice drinks and rest. No doctors if I can help it!!

  7. While I'm not Jewish, can't argue about the effectiveness of Chicken soup, and ginger ale. Hope you feel better soon! this has been a terrible winter, I have had one thing after another since before Christmas. Am just getting over the flu thing that has been making the rounds here.
Fluids, sleep and lots of couch time with the green fuzzy is my prescription.

    1. Suz, your prescription is absolutely correct. Luckily, I had earlier canned up a bunch of chicken and turkey soup, so I just need to open a jar and heat it up. My Dad swore by 7-Up to cure what ails you, but I think I prefer the ginger ale. May have one of the kids get some for me. Meanwhile I have lots of juice on hand. Slept most of the day under the green fuzzy blanket. Expect to continue at least tomorrow. Hope you are finished with the sickness. Seems like a lot of folks have been down with one thing or another this winter.

    1. Thank you, CW...This doesn't seem to be the really nasty kind of flu - just the kind that makes me achy and sleepy. I'm just taking it easy.

  9. That's the stuff I had. Three bad days and then you feel washed out and drained for a couple more.

    1. Harry...I remember you writing about having this same stuff. Makes a person feel like they have been drug through a knothole, backwards. I don't have much of a cough, so that's good. Hope you have recovered.

  10. well we always taught our kids to share, looks like it paid off....I'd tell you to stay bundled up and not do anything, but it would be a waste of time, to a stubborn mature....)

    1. Won't take any persuasion to get me to stay bundled up and quiet. This stuff is nasty. I will probably live though. :) Kids are checking up on me a couple of times a day, so I can't get into too much trouble.

  11. Sorry to hear you're sick. But glad to read you're well stocked up on soup and juice. I'm with you about the ginger ale. That's my go-to soft drink. SJ in Vancouver

    1. Thanks, SJ...Am really glad I had canned both the soup and juice. Don't feel much like cooking right now. Woke up late this afternoon to find a box of Little Debbie Nutty Bars and a 6-pack of ginger ale in the middle of my kitchen table. Son had been shopping!!
