Recommended Reading

I just have nothing today.

Spent the morning with the cleaning lady and a nurse.  Spent the afternoon going over what I need to get canned, finding the recipes and making out grocery lists for the next few grocery orders.  More bacon and hamburger and chili are at the top of the list, followed by vegetable soup, pork and beans  and my favorite coleslaw/relish recipe.

This evening finds me working on Maddie's afghan.  At the rate I am going, she will be married with half a dozen kids before it is finished.  And I haven't even started on the last one for Jacob.  Good thing he is only 11.  Might get it done before he graduates.  :)

I did manage to read a couple of my favorite blogs today.  Rev. Paul over at "Way Up North" has a good article you will find interesting.  He has a way of getting to the heart of the matter.

I will be back when I have something worthwhile to say.

    1. Thanks, Gorges...Sometimes it is a stretch to find something to write about. Glad you stop by anyway. :)

  2. Vicki, I think you made your list and are checking things off one by one. That's how we seniors get things done. Good for you! Also, you have the ability to make me laugh so I thank you for that. We need humor to help us through some of the everyday poo...
    Take care, CW

    1. CW...Sometimes my memory goes on vacation and leaves me here all by myself. Lists have become my friends. :)

You are spot on about needing humor in our lives. I think without a sense of humor I would go stark raving bat guano crazy. I am blessed with a family who have their senses of humor in good working order, and that helps!!

  3. Please don't think you have nothing worthwhile to say. As another senior whose body is letting them down now, while I still have so much I want to do, I'm also inspired by your tenacious spirit and the cheerfulness you meet life with. That's hard sometimes! We just gotta keep chipping away at our lists, right?

    1. Anon...Such nice words. Thank you. Isn't it odd that our minds are still young but our bodies say, "Nope. Not gonna happen." I think tenaciousness is probably stubbornness dressed up fancy. We just don't want to admit defeat, so we keep on. The cheerfulness is a decision. I don't always make the right one, but I try. It is easier to be happy than to be grumpy. And the lists - without them I would likely forget what it was I thought about doing. And any day we can check something off the list is a good day!

  4. I love what you say and post - just being friends through your blog. It's like getting a phone call from a friend who says they don't have much to say but wanted to say Hi. Life for me today is calm and 'unremarkable' and I wouldn't have it any other way.
It's really cold here ( -6 C when I got up). It means Mr Dog and I are taking very short walks so that his paws are ok. And I don't much like walking on the icy sidewalks either. But today is the 10% off day at Safeway so I'll be going there for my monthly stockup.
    Cheers, SJ

    1. Thank you, SJ...It works both ways. Whenever I see a comment from you, it is like that call from a friend. I am so blessed to have online friends who drop by. Means more to me than any of you could possibly know. :)

Can't fault you for short walks on such a cold day. You can wear boots, but poor Mr. Dog has to go barefoot!! Good day to stay close to the fire, although if my local grocery had a 10% sale going on, I would be there with bells on.

We had freezing rain a day or so ago. Turned everything into an ice covered landscape. Saw a video of someone ice skating in a parking lot not far from here. Today it is snowing. Expect about 8 inches to fall in the next few days. I love watching the snow turn the dirty city streets into something pretty, as long as I don't have to go out in it. Think I will go make a cup of hot chocolate.....

    2. I feel the same way about snow. On Monday, the forecast was for snow tomorrow and Thursday so I rescheduled a doctor's appointment. There's no way I'm driving in morning traffic if I have a choice.

Yes, the 10% off sale is one I look forward to each month. I keep a running list of items to restock. I also look for special deals like today when they had a cart of marked off items. So I got dental floss already marked down 50% plus today's 10%..score. I also try and use up my rainchecks which I also did today.

MrDog was not impressed with his short walk this morning. I do have 'boots' for him but he hates them so much that I don't use them unless it's really bad.

Take good care and hot cocoa sounds like a great idea.
