Things Are Looking Up

God never closes a door but what He opens a window.

Duane stopped in a little while ago to tell me he found a job.

Duane spent many years cooking in restaurants.  He saw an add for a bar and grill that needed a cook.  He applied and got the job.  It helped that he knows the manager.  He knows the manager because he has worked for him before.  Both of my boys have worked in this establishment at one time or another over the years.  The manager told Duane that he was about to call Duane's brother to get Duane's number, to ask if he would like to work there again.

This is a nice place.  I have had dinner there with my kids and grands several times.  It has been in business longer than I can remember and is a place where you can take your young children for a meal.  And it is only a block away from our building.

One of the perks is that Duane gets one meal every day he works.  They make the best pizza in town.  I have been promised some of that pizza now and then.  :)

I am really happy for him.  He has been working since he was in High School and not being able to work was wearing on him.  He is nearly finished with Occupational Therapy and is going to Cardiac Therapy two or three times a week, but that will not interfere with his work schedule.  He no longer needs to worry about transportation or driving on snowy, icy roads to get to a job.

Life is again pretty darned good!!

    1. One Family...Thanks. Duane is happy about it. It was beginning to drive him a bit crazy, being out of work and not able to do his former job of driving a forklift. This will work out well.

  2. Congratulations. So happy to hear that he no longer has such a long commute.

And speaking of windows, do you still have the plywood up or glass?
    Cheers, SJ

    1. SJ...That was one factor. He can't go back to his old job of driving a forklift because his right hand is still mostly numb, but he can do the job he just acquired. He hasn't been cleared to drive yet, either. Now he doesn't have to worry about that.

Nope. No glass yet. I'm beginning to think they are waiting for an engraved invitation to come back. My patience is wearing thin. I will wait one more week and then I will get my ornery on!:)

    1. Rob...I'm happy for him. He really wanted to get back to work and this fits the bill.

No window yet. If they don't show up to finish the job in another week, I may have to start complaining long and loud!

  5. Awesome news! Sounds like Duane has landed a job that meets his needs and will make his new boss happy as well. God comes up with some pretty amazing solutions. The pizza sounds great too. Take care and prepare, CW

    1. CW...This solution couldn't be better. The only other job he maybe could have handled within walking distance was at a convenience store and neither of us liked that option. He worked at this place a number of years ago, so he knows he can handle the work. He was completely honest with his manager about the physical problems he has had since December and that wasn't an issue. His manager is just glad to have him, as an experienced cook, back working for him. The pizza is a bonus. :)
God does some pretty amazing things, doesn't He!!
